About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a relaxed, easy-going guy from the USA just trying to make my way in the world. I've traveled to a lot of places and really enjoy meeting new people, seeing new things, and having new experiences. I work as a tour manager/ tour guide for kids in Washington, D.C.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to stay aware of the fact that the smallest, most seemingly trivial factors can trigger a chain of events that can lead to major, drastic changes. It seems that I can always trace the big things back to something small, whether for better or worse.

For example, long ago I once worked for the Hyatt hotel chain and wanted to go into its management training program, but one of my supervisors didn't allow it because he thought that I didn't smile enough. If I had smiled a bit more I would have gone into the program, and probably would still be in the business. I never would have quit, traveled all the countries that I have, had countless priceless experiences, and lived my real world "second life." Everything suddenly changed when I decided to leave the American lifestyle behind, and really, I can trace it back to someone thinking I didn't smile enough. I notice these kinds of things every day, and always try to treat the little things as if they were big things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In the past I was very active with hosting, surfing, attending and organizing gatherings, greeting new members, reading and posting in the group message boards and spreading the word. I also served as a Busan City Ambassador (South Korea) for about two years. However, I became inactive for some time, and am happy to be back in it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had dozens of amazing couchsurfs and hosting experiences over the years, in Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA- and never experienced a bad one. I have also met many other local couchsurfers through meetups and events and those were always good times as well.
