About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find a problem that needs solving and solve it.

ABOUT ME

I'm a driven architecture student with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and experience. I prefer to learn things for myself (especially if it's the hard way), but I love the unexpected things I can learn from a stranger. I come off as a little extreme to some, but I respond well to optimism, curiosity, and passion.

PHILOSOPHY

We should be eternally curious. There's never a time to stop learning and there's never a shortage of things to discover, we just have to keep an open mind and a critical eye. The people we surround ourselves with make a tremendous difference in our outlook and our potential. Destiny is a powerful force in my life and I know every success or failure moves me toward that. I try to embrace every hardship and learn from every experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to travel. I love to teach. I love to share. There's no telling what we can learn from each other!

So far, I've only surfed, but once I get back from traveling, I definitely plan to change that!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've... met an Irishman who doesn't drink beer.
witnessed a Dane receive his first bike on his birthday.
been to see Mary Poppins in Italian.
camped on the beaches of Castiglione
seen Florence nightlife through the eyes of an adult.
met architects from around the world.
traveled to Turkey with one of them on a whim.
explored new cities.
made new friends.
learned about myself.
had the best times in my life.

Interests

Architecture, tinkering and inventing, sketching, painting, travelling, good friends, getting lost, running, cycling, thinking, talking all night about anything that has been or could never be. I can be interested in anything as long as the people I'm with are.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm drawn to movies that make you think, but I'm open to just about anything. Inception, Stay, and Memento are some of my favorites.

My mood is deeply affected by the music I listen to so I tend to tailor it to what I want to feel like. I love the singing human voice and I tend to lose patience with rap.

I've recently discovered Soulwax. Thanks Daniel.

Science fiction, especially the hyper detailed work of William Gibson, Orson Scott Card, or the boundless creativity of Douglas Adams.

I love the work of poets such as A. E. Housman, e. e. cummings, and Saul Williams

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've witnessed a boundless growing tension between a staunch vegan "eco-terrorist" hermaphrodite and my conservative, meat-eating aunts at a family potluck.

I've built (although not designed...yet) a 3D printer and plan to do another!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I'll go little to big. I tie my shoes differently than anyone I know (my method is faster than any I've encountered). I'm a hardware guy that always seems to have a project going. I know a lot about computers and I'm extremely interested in emerging technologies and I've done extensive research on new devices, methods, materials, and processes. I love design and philosophy and I could probably hold my own in obscure, esoteric discussions ranging from ethical dilemmas to theoretical musings about culture and the nature of man's place in the progress of the world; but for the most part, I like to learn.
