ABOUT ME

I'm silly and fun. I like stories, breakfast, coffee, beer, crafts, and dancing. I'm currently on a backpacking trip around Europe, Turkey and India. All I want to do is swim in lakes and camp, always. I can make a fire! A great fire. And make food for friends (with or without bonfire).
I thought I just needed a little break from school before I started my masters, but I'm learning too much here to go back to a classroom, for now. I make a mean breakfast sandwich (truffle-fried tomatoes with soft scrambled eggs yem yem!) and a serious batch of cookies. I love cooking for friends (and hosts!), organizing games, making jewelry and going out dancing. Oh, and writing. You'll see me with my notebook everywhere I go. I'm also a novice crumper. Meaning I try with a lot of heart- not that I have real accreditation. You can tell me whether I succeed or not.

Interests

Books, writing, philosophy, feminist and political theory, organizing workshops, great conversation, street art, contemporary art, modern art, big art installations (are you getting the idea?) parties, galleries, cafes oh god cafes. A meticulous cafe or breakfast joint can really calm me down. Yeesh. Coffee! Beer! Wine! Clothes. I have an unfortunate love for clothes, and DIY-projects. I like carving, but I'm terrible at it. I'm great however at roasting marshmallows. Crafts. Cooking. Cookies. My love of cookies is irrational, bordering on boundless.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dah, I like all music. Particularly clever raps (because I appreciate great word-play I suppose), but you could play me Boz Scaggs or ambient dub (!!) or whatever. I'd be happy.

My favorite book WAS fairly consistently "The Cure for Death By Lightening", but then I read "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace. Oh my god, is all there is to say about it. I love getting book recommendations.

Oh, let's give a shout to Zadie Smith of White Teeth and The Autograph Man for always acknowledging race, and the perfect description of a kiss.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ill-advised night-hiking on the Juan de Fuca trail, getting blood spat on me during a Thai kick-boxing match, finding an oasis of homemade feta cheese in while very lost in Greece.

Killing a carp for traditional Czech Christmas soup, whoa what a day. Learning to rock climb in Hampi, spending Christmas rummaging through the India dessert with my family, seeing the Himalayas in Sikkim and deciding my life won't be complete til me and my Pa climb to the Everest base camp together.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some stellar cocktails, how to can preserves. Other things too. I can teach you some card games, take you for runs, go through some yoga poses, show you the secret to a perfect berry crumble, write you a story.
