About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I travel for the thrill, the experience, to open my mind, meet new people, explore new cultures, learn about myself, and see the beauties of this wild world. One Love!

ABOUT ME

Aloha! I am 26 years old, I was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawai'i, left for 3 years to study at Northern Arizona Uni and 1 year to study in Breda, Holland! I am into nearly every sort of sport and of course learning new sports is always a good time and an interesting challenge! I love backpacking and just getting out into the wilderness and being surrounded by the mountains, but I also love gettin' a little wacky at a bar/club every now and then. Ever since I studied abroad in Holland I have been bitten by the travel bug and I think there may be no cure in sight! Since then I have traveled throughout all the Americas, SE Asia, Western and Northern Europe, New Zealand, Morroco, and even just exploring around my little Hawaiian island to a new extent.

PHILOSOPHY

Take the road less traveled, throw yourself into new situations and experiences and see the world! Learn from everyone, ask questions, don't judge, and just keep an open-mind. Life is beautiful, mate!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been involved with couchsurfing since the end of 2011, however, I wasn't really able to become fully involved until I lived in a house full of open and friendly friends in New Zealand in which we were able to finally host couchsurfers! It was wild how busy we were hosting and it was just amazing being able to support and be a part of the couchsurfing community in such an active way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love it. I have only couchsurfed a handful of times and probably hosted around 20 surfers. I'd still say im in the beginning stages of being an advid couchsurfer member but I still love the idea, especially when it is used for its true purpose, which I believe is to meet new people in new places and just make the world feel smaller and more open! Plus being able to build deeper experiences than you would by just staying in a hostel or hotel. Couchsurfing IS an experience!

Interests

I love surfing, seeing and being in the outdoors, meeting new peoples, seeing ridiculously crazy shooting stars, taking the back-roads, and hearing people speak in foreign languages! I just finished laying out and creating a tropical fruit tree orchard around my parents house, adding about 20 different types of exotic and non-exotic tropical fruit trees to the farm as well as adding a few more banana patches around. It was a blast and I got pretty into horticulture and the whole farming lifestyle. I've currently just spent my summer up in Sitka, Alaska where I was a Sea-Kayak guide for a small kayak guiding company in Sitka Sound. We led 2.5 hour tours up to multiple day paddling expeditions into some pretty remote and gorgeous areas with tons of great wildlife.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music. I love the book Shantaram, The Alchemist, some James Patterson mystery novels, and I'm seriously into the Game of Thrones books,; I can't wait for the 6th book to come out already!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing? Like one single moment?!? Oh man...I am going to possibly be corny with this but it wasn't anything monumental, it was a little thing. Going on a couple mile bike-ride on a little" Dutch bike" in Holland to a lake with all of 12 of my flatmates all from different parts of Europe and all amazing life-long friends. We were all carrying bags filled with all sorts of food, beers, drinks, and a hibachi barbeque. We spent the whole day at the lake bbqing and had a fire on the beach till dark. This was the first thing that popped into my mind, so I guess it was pretty important to me? Amazing things happen everyday! It goes to show that the simple things in life are often the most cherished moments. But if you're looking for some more wild and crazy travel stories I'm sure we all have several we could exchange over hourssss!

Teach, Learn, Share

Keep an open mind...and never stop learning from others.

I'd love to learn some more technical outdoor sports like Wind-Surfing and Rock-Climbing. I love sharing adventures, smiles, dinners, and just good laughs. When people come to visit me in Hawaii I love sharing the beauty of the island with them; it is truly a special place on the planet and I really try my best to show people around the island, to all of the secret spots and local food when I am back home.
