I'm not on any mission other than to meet awesome folks, travel the world and take in the majestic, amazing things it has to offer.

ABOUT ME

My friends describe me as energetic, driven, sweet, and just plain awesome. I'm honest and up front about what I think, sometimes I'm even crass, but I try my best to be sure that my words don't bite. I hope to make you laugh (I am a psychiatric nurse, after all).
I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty whether it's to have fun or help those in need. I'd rather be with friends having a good beer, laughing and telling stories about real life or watching TV series/good movie. I'm a carefree soul and hope to meet others who appreciate adventure. I love to travel, even if it's just a day trip (I've been to Canada many times, Europe x2 and Mexico plus traveled all over the US (and the sky is still the limit).

My couch, your couch, it's a big fun world. Let's share it, one free couch at a time in the name of exploring while actually getting to know our neighbors in the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to this site; recently was introduced to it through my boyfriend who has couchsurfed extensively. I've definitely couch surfed on many friend's couches/beds/air mattresses all over the country, just not through this site. Usually when I travel I prefer hostels so that I can meet locals, but this seems even better!

BOOKS: Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollen, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors by Carl Sagan, Julian by Gore Vidal, Harry Potter, His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman, Machine of Death (various authors), roman history, general history, sciencey nerdy stuff, steampunk fiction...the list goes on.
MOVIES: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Quills, 12 Monkeys, City of Lost Children, Wes Anderson's films, Christopher Guest's films, All films by Danny Boyle, Quentin Terentino's films, I LOVE well made horror, independent films, foreign films---I'm a movie nut. I don't tend to care for big Hollywood blockbusters or chick-flicks.
TV: DR WHO!!!, Torchwood, Dexter, Deadwood, It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia...I don't have cable so I have to do my shows en mass DVD style. When I had cable, I mostly watched History, Discovery Health and the Food network. I do not like reality shows unless it's on the Food Network.
MUSIC: I'm kind of snobby about music. I'll be honest. But I listen to a wide gamut of things: Indie rock, mellow electronika, a lot of foreign bands, good OLD bluegrass, old school hiphop. To give you a feel for my style, Radiohead, Bjork, Blonde Redhead, Antlers, the National, M.I.A., Arcade Fire, Mum, Sigur Ros, Frederik, Stereo Total....of course this is a tiny list amongst thousands of bands I adore. Hey, ask me about it and we'll talk music!
FOOD: is so important to me! I love cooking and exploring new culinary ideas. I'm a vegetarian but you are welcome to have meat in my home. I'm not a jerk who will force my food morality on you. I love ethnic foods and fusion cuisine. Dining out is my biggest weakness!
