About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Stay out of trouble
ABOUT ME
Native New Yorker, went to college in Hawaii and then lived in Japan for several years. Worked in Hiroshima, Tokyo, and Manila. Avid lover of Argentine tango, sushi, wine, and Japanese samurai films.
My father came to NY as a young boy just after the Russian revolution, and my mother was born in the Bronx. I went to NY public schools through high school and I've worked here for over 20 years as an adult, so I've seen this city change through some of its most seedy and tumultous times up to its current renaissance, covering a lot of years.
PHILOSOPHY
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. (Matthew 7:12)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Able to host surfers at my apt in Brooklyn or go out for dinner or drinks in Manhattan, where I work.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, I've hosted surfers from Japan, Columbia, Australia, France, Kazakhstan, Russia, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Poland and Israel. It has been a great experience, hosting very nice individuals, who have been a pleasure to spend time with. Most have been very interesting to spend time with, and I usually have enough time to take people around for a neighborhood tour of the Greenpoint and Williamsburg area.
Interests
I just started learning how to play electric bass, so I've cut back quite a bit on dancing Argentine tango. I also just restored a vintage Japanese custom made road racing bicycle, so that I can bike more in the city. As usual, I've been adding to the wine collection, so I probably have around 200 bottles in the wine fridge now. After visiting Sonoma Valley, I try to attend more wine tasting events when I have the time. Recently, I spend about three nights each week doing CrossFit at the box here in Greenpoint.
