À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Cram life full of delight. Learn everything.

ABOUT ME

I'm an avid reader, a amateur analyst of human behaviour, a humanist, a mediocre but enthusiastic photographer, a wannabe writer/journalist, a failed Scientist, a fairly decent teacher, a pseudo-intellectual hedonist... Honest and not entirely amoral. Patient enough to teach 15 hyperactive Catalan kids a bit of English. Can find humour everywhere. Fairly apparent inner child. Quite talkative.

PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy: See Kipling poem -If
I like life. It's not easy but it's fun. Seems better than decomposition, for the most part.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have now couchsurfed four times now. Twas great. Brilliant community you have here. Hope to host and travel with this much more.

Haven't had the pleasure of hosting yet unfortunately. For some reason no one wanted to come to a small town so far from Barcelona whilst here. But I hear that Vancouver, my home town, is a popular spot. In September I return there. And once I have a job and an apartment I plan to host as much as possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

1) In London. Just for a couple days with a fellow called Cyberchi. Great experience. Good fun. Pleasant conversation. London is a kind of chaotic paradise.

2) Lenny and Susana. Great folks. Fun to talk to. See reference. Zaragoza. Pretty little city. Lovely people. Great conversations and good fun. Hope to return when it´s warmer:)

3) Lucky-Orbis. Also a lovely fellow. Woke up rediculously early on my last day to make me coffee. Had a grand time.

4) Yvonne. Fantastic person. Brilliant photographer. His theatre project is exceptional. Lyon was a glorious place. I shall continue to aspire to have as cool a life as he does:p

5) Yohann and friends. Really fun people. Sociable and talkative. Wasn't feeling so good as I'd just had my camera, my most precious possession stolen in Paris but had a nice time with them nonetheless.

6) Jordi Pedros. Involved in all sorts of fascinating projects. Works really hard and seems very organized and self-disciplined, which I admire greatly. Pleasant and really fun to talk to, also.

7) Michal Hartl. Hosted me for so many days and was delightful to spend time to and talk to. Book designer! How cool is that. Very knowledgable about music, history and art. Great fun was had.

I've met some really fine people here and hope to keep in contact. Couchsurfing is quite simply the best way of travelling.

Centres d'intérêt

Everything. Insatiable curiosity. Boredom is a weakness I'd never admit, and fortunately have never suffered from, as it stems from insufficient imagination.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Reading: History, philosophy sometimes, but mostly literature, Borges, Ellison, Kipling, Stevenson, Lovecraft, PK Dick, O. Henry, Saki, Hemmingway, Angela Carter, the Fab Fyodor...
Movies: Kurosawa, Fellini, Tarantino, Closer, Brick, Sexy Beast, classic Gangster movies, Kung fu...

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Everything is amazing. I still find delight in being ambulant, having all of my senses (Including nociception; equilibrioception, proprioception and kinaesthesia) and all my fingers and toes. My heart continues to beat unabated at around 60bpm and has done so at about that rate for 33 years. Entirely incredible.

Zaragoza's Pilar festival is lovely. The mountains of my homeland, BC aren't too shabby an arrangement of rocks, trees and snow...

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I can make fire using only sticks. I have a vast store of biology knowledge that I hardly get to apply anymore. Can occasionally coin a memorable sentence. Pretty good proofreader. The very very basics of photography. English grammar and composition.
