About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Breathe in, breathe out.

ABOUT ME

I'm a born again existentialist. Okay, that's a crock but it's still a good attention-getter. I think I've suffered more than my share of heartache and disappointment in the past few years so now I'm trying to dive into anything I can to become the well-rounded person I'd like to be. I've been an aspiring actor for years but I'm putting that on hold so I can dive into lots of other things like dance, music, yoga, reiki and community service. I think next year is when I'm finally going to make the jump to learning alternate languages, which I've been slacking off on for ten years.

PHILOSOPHY

Living life at my own pace with a slight allowance made for the times I need to be pushed out of my comfort zone to grow. To put myself in other people's shoes as much as possible and, to quote Montaigne "Lend yourself to others. Give yourself to yourself." Though, to be honest, I have no idea where that quote originally comes from; I just got it from a Godard film.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Music: 60's & 70's rock, 80's pop & New Wave, Blues, Jazz, Indie.
Favorite Movies: It would take forever to list specific titles so let's just say, some of my favorite styles are film noir, French New Wave, German Expressionism and I find myself gravitating more towards older films. Also, much like with music, I like the piercing, personal film statements of the late sixties and seventies along with the sheer escapist fare of the eighties. Maybe I'll name names later.
Favorite authors are Dostoyevsy, Hermann Hesse, Hemingway, Langston Hughes, Anne Sexton, Bukowski, Jorge Luis Borges, Fernando Pessoa, Vonnegut and an assload of others.
