About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To create and play the beautiful music of Brazil, and to share great moments of life with friends old and new.

ABOUT ME

We're musicans; Kym plays vibes & drums, Anje is a singer and percussionist. We have a band together playing Brazilian music & do other freelance teaching/music jobs as they come in. We love our life of making music, sharing lots of time with our friends, hanging out in our home-made funky party shed, (The Wawahine Lounge), walking our dog Lula - you know, just good old 'living the good life' stuff!
Anje is a great cook & Kym is the perfect washer-upper!

We've travelled many times to Bali, our favourite place to unwind, and have also spent 6 months (over 2 visits) in Brazil to study and play music.
We love cooking and feasting with our pals, backyard bbq's - especially traditional Brazilian style & the occasional forro music jam in the shed.

We work from home. Through the week we take care of band business (Anje also manages the band), rehearsals/writing etc plus whatever gigs we're doing.

PHILOSOPHY

We're people who really enjoy connecting with folk from all around the world. We love to share tales of travel/music/life stories & adventures.

Our friends come from all walks of life, many countries, many different backgrounds and cultural & religious experiences. We don't personally believe in God, nor do we have any other particular spiritual beliefs. Life is what you make it.

We live with open hearts and minds & have always tried to embrace the spirit in which friendships are formed (by travellers or people closer to home), wherever they come from, or wherever we are.

We live simply, but have still managed to create a life that for us, is satisfying, full of adventures (little and big), and allows us the freedom to do what we are passionate about, and good at.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've hosted a friend from Dili, East Timor, and two couples from France, for a couple of days each, and enjoyed all experiences immensely.

Interests

Making music, red wine, cooking, sharing dinners with friends, walks around our neighborhood with our dog, Lula. We are fairly social, but not into clubbing at all. Prefer quirky cocktail bars or old-school pubs with live bands. Mostly though, we party at The Wawahine Lounge...our tropical backyard shed :) It doesn't cost anything, there's no one telling us when to go home, and we play our favourite funk and soul tunes :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Antonio Carlos Jobim and Henry Mancini are two of Kym's favourite composers. Anje's big on them too, plus alot of amazing Brazilian artists, and there's also a lot of soul, funk, roots and reggae music played in our home.

Movies..yes we go seem them every now and then. All sorts.
Books: cookbooks..lots of them! Books about travel, books with gorgeous pictures of places and people from other lands.
