About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have fun and just enjoy life!

ABOUT ME
I believe to be an outgoing and friendly guy but that's for you to decide! I love my friends and family back home. I don't see them as often as I would like to because I move around a lot but when I'm back it's like I never left! I also love meeting new people and making new friends. I enjoy having nice conversations, talking about my experiences and hearing about your interesting lives! And that's why travelling is so great, you always meet new people! I have strong opinions on many subjects but it's nice to discuss with different people and I'm always open for other opinions!

PHILOSOPHY
For me life is a short period of time so you have to enjoy and have fun as much as possible. It's important to share to those moments with people who share your views. I also believe we have to think about those who don't have the chance and the opportunity to have a good life. That's why it is important to change the way people live and think today. We have to protect the earth and it's resources. In my opinion it's not acceptable that a small elite is running the world against the will of the people. I think our current capitalist system is doomed to fail and we have to start thinking about an alternative. The main objective being to make this world a better place for all of us. Couchsurfing is a great means to talk about these important issues, to exchange and to learn from each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Depending on where I live if I have the possibility I can definitely host people. Also when I travel I like to sleep on someone's couch for two main reasons: meet people from different countries, cultures or languages and to have a guide (depending on your availability of course) who can share the knowledge and experience of his country and city to take the most out of my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have enjoyed the couchsurfing experience for some years now and it has always been a lot of fun. I met amazing people who shared not just their couch and their home but also there culture and their experiences. Most people I met were great guides with a good vibe and some became friends!

Interests

I like to talk about important issues like politics or the news. I am very much interested in the history of different countries and more particularly of the history of the American continent (which I studied at University). But it's not just the official history that interest me but also (and perhaps more importantly) the history of the "normal" people, the things that we do not always find in books. That why it's so nice to travel. I love to visit museums and historical buildings. And of course talking to the locals (perhaps with you?) about the history of their city or country. I have other interests as well like movies, literature or music. I am a big fan of football (not the American version though). Love playing it, watching it or just talking about it. And finally I like good (local) food and a good drink! I really enjoy going out to a bar or a club which I believe is also a good way to meet people. But I can have a great time as well during a quiet night around a nice meal and a good conversation for example. It all depends on the context.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kind of movies ( a part from horror movies) going from the big blockbusters like Fightclub, the Matrix, The godfather, Dumb and Dumber to independant movies or socialy and politically committed movies like the films from Ken Loach, Pablo Larrain or Kevin Smith. I'm also a fan of Kubrick and Tarantino. I also like to watch series. My favorites are The Wire, Oz, Breaking bad or more recently Game of Thrones. As for music I can listen to anything if it's in the right context but my favorite music is hard rock and metal. Some of my favorite bands are The Foo Fighters, Sepultura, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Children of Bodom, In Flames, .... In literature I like non-fiction work, especially history books. For example the books from Howard Zinn or Eduardo Galeano. The fictuanal authors I like are Camus, Huxley or Orwell. In another style I also like the work of Hunter S. Thomson and Chuck Palahniuk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My latest 8 month travel around South America was amazing with a special mention for Bolivia which I loved! The great European festivals I have done like Sziget in Budapest were also outstanding. But life is full of these moments you will never forget. Sometimes the most simple moments can stay with you forever, like the smile of a lovely girl, a night out in a great city or a nice meal with a friend.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can definitely share languages. I love learning new languages or improving the languages I already master (more or less). I love to cook so this can also be in point of interest we can share. And I can teach you things about Belgium and France (and Europe in general). And of course I want to know everything from your country and culture!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Ireland, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Peru, Slovenia, Spain, Suriname, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, Canada, France, French Guiana, United Kingdom
