About Me

i am obsessed with music - house, trance, jazz, even a little classical/opera. personally, i sing and dance and dance a bit more.

i am now traveling the world after working for one year as a doctor.

my studies have taken me both internationally and interstate too: either for improving health standards overseas (indonesia), or specialist placements (the UK).

PHILOSOPHY

"Why not?"

think about it: if you say "why not?" to everything, you just do. it's the best way to go. i recommend this to all, especially when traveling. try everything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

when i'm home, i host as much as i can. and when i'm already hosting/busy, i'll take you out for beverages. one of the best things about CS is having locals show you the best places for food, drinks and general fun places to meet others :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

- the day i joined, i went on a CS pub crawl around st kilda, melbourne. from night #1, i loved it!
- been for countless drinks (coffees; cocktails; beers, etc) with people i meet through CS
- hosted australia day parties to which CS'ers came. one called one party one of the best things she'd done in australia
- i've hosted surfers from all over the world
- i've surfed in the states, iceland, france, denmark, germany, poland, czech, and slovenia

Interests

music, music, music. oh, and a passion for traveling and meeting new people.

I've been in and still love to sing songs from the musicals 'South Pacific' and 'Guys and Dolls'. I knew a few from various other musicals, too.

And lastly: I couldn't decide whether to add this to the 'amazing things i've seen or done' section, but we'll just stick it here.
People often say "I was privileged to do (this or that) or attend (this or that)". I honestly felt VERY privileged to attend the Metropolitan Opera in NYC with my mum in November 2011. She took me to see 'La Boheme', a sad tale of love in difficult times (as most operas are). The sets, actors and orchestra worked seamlessly to create an unbelievable atmosphere. I shall never forget one particular aria, 'Musetta's Waltz', in which the performance reached such a climax that I started getting teary! It was extraordinary and completely unexpected.
This is the aria, though obviously it's not the same just watching it on yt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0V6Bq0jU4Q

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm studying medicine now, but I wrote this in 2010 while working in a hospital:

Every shift there are things that strike me. One in particular was a little baby girl. As I pushed her cot towards medical imaging for a scan, she was looking back at me the whole time. Her mum and I were chatting and before I left them in the care of the radiographers, I held the little girls hand (or really, she held my pinky finger with her hand - tremendously cute). When I was told they were ready to go back, I saw the baby girl was now crying and her mum talking to her, trying to soothe her. As I approached, the little one stopped sobbing and recommenced gazing at me. It was very touching. All I could think of was that it was such an injustice for someone so little and adorable to be in poor health. Fortunately, I checked her room my next shift and she was gone - upon checking I was told she had improved and was discharged! :)
