About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Take risks

ABOUT ME

I don't really know where to start - please ask me! I love to meet new people!

I'm an internet procrastinator, dark chocolate eating, badly vegan, sleep deprived, New York loving student.

PHILOSOPHY

I wish I had things that figured out...it has taken me far too long to realize that almost all of the best parts of my life have started in nerves, fear, uncomfortability, and risk - and that it's nothing to shy away from!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to host...but my half of this cramped NYC dorm isn't exactly conducive. My bed is my couch and my desk and my comfiest chair and my kitchen. I am, however, a future host, and right now, I'm here to find friends and maybe stay on a few couches of my own.

This summer, I'd like to travel around Latin America, hopefully couchsuring some of the time, so I'm here right now to try to get involved in the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet - I'd love to meet up with NYC area CSers this spring to get to know the city a bit better and to understand the community even better, so please don't hesitate to reach out!

Interests

Food (let's be honest...), procrastination, social justice, feminism, hiking, politics, coffee, lots!

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes are terribly unsophisticated. Mostly top 40 with some Brandi Carlile/Ingrid Michaelson/Tegan and Sara when I'm not in the mood.
I'm working on reading more for pleasure, after I pretty much dropped the habit in high school - see my goodreads profile here!
I love movies, and I don't watch nearly enough - recent favorites include Win Win and The Whistleblower. I watch bad Disney movies with my roommate if we find ourselves drunk and bored...if you have a problem with that, I have a problem with you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not sure this really fits in the category, but what I've realized from my (admittedly limited) travel experience is that by far my most rewarding travel has involved homestays or otherwise staying with local people - the difference in the nature of my memories of those countries and the ones where I stayed in hotels is stunning.

Even in my limited travels, I've had plenty of stunning experiences - I've met local celebrities, been on national TV in two countries (neither of which is my own), seen spectacular numbers of people preforming together, traveled through fjords, attended high school in two countries, seen spectacular churches and shrines, eaten food I couldn't identify at gunpoint, attended weddings and funerals on multiple continents, struggled against language barriers, and learned about the limited scope of my own experience more than anything.

Countries I’ve Visited

Estonia, Finland, Guatemala, Iceland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Norway, United States
