About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Can't travel into different time zones at the moment like I used to because of a job. So when I got bored I bought an Interrail ticket for March & April to explore some EU cities instead (while being boring in front of the screen in the weekdays. :) 10 trips, don't know what's next.

ABOUT ME
Born in Dallas, TX but grown up in Germany since I was very little. Studied musicology and cultural anthropology. I always tried to work during summer semester break and travel during the other one (each semester break lasts around 9 to 10 weeks here). That's how I often ended up travelling for two months from early February till the middle of April. So in 2012 I visited my Dad in Dallas and saw a lot of the States, too. My trip took me to New York City, Dallas, Austin, Miami, Key West, L.A., San Diego, Las Vegas, San Francisco, a few National Parks and Hawaii. In 2013 I explored some of South East Asia. I spent most of the time in Indonesia, where my route was Jakarta - Surakarta - Yogyakarta - Bali - Lombok - Flores - Komodo - Timur - Rote - Alor (NTT) - Pantar (NTT). After that I have been to Kuala Lumpur, the Taman Negara National Park and Langkawi in Malaysia and a couple of Islands in Southern Thailand. In 2014 it was a mix of old and new places for me. I took my then girlfriend along another trip to Hawaii, went to California again, visited a friend in Austin during SXSW festival and explored Mexico a little. There my itinerary was Tijuana - Mexico City - Cancún - Playa del Carmen - Tulum. I ended up spending a lot of time in Tulum and worked at a nearly self-sufficient farm in the jungle close by. In 2017 I spent two months travelling mostly Panama but also spent some little time in Southern Costa Rica and Nicaragua. 2018 it was the Philippines. In 2019 I finally made it to South America and I spent two months in Columbia and Ecuador. This year I've been to Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, which was pretty great also. To my person.. I'm easy going. I like to see new places and people. I feel at home where it's warm. I love crowds, festivals and anything that looks like fun. I've played in Punk Rock bands since my teenage years and I still love it, next to lots of other music. I like jam sessions and usually bring a small travel guitar with me.

PHILOSOPHY
Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've met so many people that are fun on my trips, whether I surfed at their places or just met up. It's always nice to meet fellow travellers, exchange stories or explore new places together.
I actually enjoy staying at hostels, too, for that same reason ;-).

Interests

I love making music, I try to bring my guitar wherever possible.
I like the beach and all kinds of water related activities when it's warm.
I like hiking and sleeping in my hammock - oh boy, don't get me started talking about hammock camping.
I'm always down to explore the local nightlife!
I get bored by routine easily, travelling helps.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read the hilarious books by Douglas Adams or Terry Prachett over and over again or the great adventure strories the likes of Jules Vernes. My favorite kind of music is fast melodic Punk Rock à la NOFX, but things like The Doors, Velvet Underground, Portishead, Massive Attack, Django Reinhardt, Nina Simone, Sublime and Bob Dylan are among many more good bands, artists and genres out there that I like, too. Way too much to list it all here!
