About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore as much of Europe as I possibly can!

ABOUT ME

Just finished my undergrad degree in International Politics and History in Bremen and doing a "nothing" year in Berlin! :)

I'm an eager user of the people's transportation (a.k.a. RyanAir and local ridesharing), since I'm trying to get to know as much of Germany and Europe as I possibly can.

I'm really interested in getting to know new cultures and new life stories. I personally grew up immersed in a variety of cultures: I have parents from different countries, and have gone to an international school ever since kindergarten.

My self-appointed life mission is to attempt to understand the history, the myths, the egos, the collective imagination, and the motor that drive people, countries, and cultures to be the way they are.

I'm fluent in Spanish and English, and I'm fairly competent in German (C1).

PHILOSOPHY

That's quite a loaded question. "Why do I live my life the way I do?" I've read 400-page books that have struggled with that question, and in all that text, in all those words, in all that philosophical struggle, they have not been able to conclude anything tangible.

Maybe that's because life is constantly fluid, and we live in what Unamuno calls the "fog" of life, trying to clear it up using our flawed reasoning skills.

As of now, I'm trying to find what my passion in life is. Until I do, I think I'll simply try to live it "up" as much as I can (as cliché as that might sound), trying to experience everything to the fullest.

So I guess my philosophy is, simply, to try anything and everything until it bites back. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm still quite a beginner to Couchsurfing, but I'm always eager to share a little of myself to whoever's nice enough to host me: my stories, my labor, or simply a nice Weißbier and an interesting conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

My friends constantly make fun of my music taste. I'm not one of those people that can simply say they like something specific like rock or pop or Hillary Duff, for that matter. Music comes to me depending on the mood I'm in or what I've remembered or felt that particular day. That's why you'll find me listening to anything from turn-of-the-century Tango, to Top 40s, to Cumbia, Ska, Indie Rock, and whatever genre The Cat Empire decides they are.

Books, for me, usually accumulate dust until I crack them open and can't put them down until I'm done. I usually have a very personal relationship to the books I read, and the ones that I recommend to others have, in some way or another, permanently changed my outlook on life. Right now, I'm trying to finish Hesse's Demian.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

"Amazing" is such an overloaded word. I haven't yet climbed the Himalayas nor have I jumped off a skyscraper in Manhattan. I'd say the simpler things in life have been the "amazing" things I've done: meeting and friending new people all over Europe, or being able to freely and cheaply get to know and understand this awe-striking "Old World."
