About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Get as far away from anywhere as I can. Learn Uyghur!
ABOUT ME
Despite being a failed student of a handful of languages, the plan is to keep trying. I love exploring outside, camping, swimming and meeting new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
New CS friends gave me a soft landing when I arrived in Xinjiang, for which I am deeply grateful. It's a dusty nowhere and it'd be a daunting place to spend a summer alone.
Interests
Martial arts, folk music, new experiences, language, weird food, literature - esp. magical realism, sci fi, New Weird etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
I chose my field of study because it covered such a range of the things that interest me. Too late I discovered that I only enjoy reading things I'm not told to.
Anyway, these are some authors whose writing I have really enjoyed - I seek writers of equal fucking awesomeness for my free time:
Borges. Gabriel Garcia Marquez; Hesse; Conrad; Paul Auster; Flann O'Brien. Also, Frank Herbert. Charles Bukowski, though I'm not sure how well that would stand up now. And everything by Nabokov.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw a circular rainbow above the petrified waterfall at Hierve El Agua, with vultures circling beneath.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to swap English language for Uyghur.
Also, I can teach you make bread. I am a master of bread theory. Sometimes things I touch just turn into bread even if I don't mean for them to.
Countries I’ve Visited
Mexico
Countries I’ve Lived In
