About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Love harder, live free.

ABOUT ME

My friends would say, "She's this crazy little ball of energy. She's always doing something. She makes me laugh, and smiles way too much. She's vegan, which is weird, but we still love her. She's constantly writing, snapping pictures, singing, and playing that damn ukulele! She needs to learn to watch her language. I don't know. I guess she's pretty cool overall" And then I'd walk in and say "What were you guys talking about?" And they'd say "Eh. Nothing" and laugh.

PHILOSOPHY

Again: Love harder, live free. This kind of sums me up. I believe in giving all you can, expecting nothing in return, and being content to live doing whatever it is you want to do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't yet, but I hope to host and travel as much as I can.

Interests

I love art. I mean this in the broader term to encompass performance, music, visual art, etc... I think that music is really the one that touches me the deepest. I love to sing and play and listen, especially with other people. By trade, I'm a performer. I do innovative, audience reliant pieces, some theatricalish, some more performance arty. Outside of art, the thing that grabs me most is interaction with people. I love to meet new and different people, make deep and lasting friendships, and learn. It's something I do all the time on a smaller scale, but I think couch surfing could help me to do it more. I also try to be really active in social change. For the most part, I just personalize it (lessen my intake, make conscious choices, veganism, freeganism, etc...), but I also have a blog (lovelaughfeel.com) and I try to participate in any groups that I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

As far as music, I love trip-hop, dubstep, folk rock, indie-rap, musicals, world music, asian pop, electro-swing, and a whole lot more genres that I won't bother you with. I love biographies and children's books. My favorite books series is "A Series of Unfortunate Events". And, I like either cheesy bad movies, documentaries, cult classics and indie movies. Also, pretty much anything where something gets blown up. Chick flicks are a negative.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

None of my moments are very explosive, but they are some of the highlights of my life so far. I'll give you three. Two of them were great, one of them not so much. Ok, so:
1. The moment in my profile picture. It was the Fourth of July and my three friends and I decided to go watch the fireworks at our local park from a roof across the street. My friend Jade told me to bring my ukulele in case we wanted to play a little, and my friend Billy brought his guitar. Well, we weren't the only people who had the idea to come to that roof. While we were waiting, me and Billy started playing "Setting up Sunday" by Meg and Dia, and I sang while Jade and Shannon recorded. People were gathering around to hear. And when we finished, we stood by and watched the fireworks. They were beautiful.
2. My freshman year of college, a group of me and about five of my friends decided to go exploring the very small town we lived in. One of my friends is a photographer and he decided to take pictures. The six of us spent the entire day together, talking, exploring, and playing like children.
3. I was on the train writing in my journal not too long ago. My mind was on some money problems and small insignificant kinds of things. All of the sudden, I tuned into a conversation in front of me between a group of children and an adult. One of the children was asking the adult about his various faults. "Do you lie, cheat, steal, etc..." Yes to all of them. "Do you murder?" "I have." Casually. He said it with a laugh. I'm not easily shocked, but this guy's cavlier attitude telling these kids about murder really did leave me awestruck.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about theatre history. I know contact improv and yoga too. Also, if you want to learn about sustainability and veganism, I've got books and words for ya!
