About Me

We are a couple of nerds who one day, quite unexpectedly had the somewhat stupid idea to empty our apartment, sell all our stuff, grab our passports and head out the door.

And it's the best thing we ever did! Now we travel and wander and stop in with old friends, or stop to make new ones.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Before leaving Australia, we were mainly hosting couchsurfers in Melbourne - in order to meet others in this giant community. Now that we're travelling we love to meet local couchsurfing groups, and hook up with interesting peoples from local cities we visit

Interests

seeing live music/comedy, going out to the movies, reading, debating the finer points from Avengers to philosophy, travel (obviously!)... and generally not sitting still. We like quirky restaurants, spontaneous encounters and trying something new. We love good coffee and good conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

We have an eclectic taste in music, from mumford and sons to daft punk, they might be giants to linkin park.

We have a MASSIVE dvd collection, as we dont watch free to air tv, instead we have tv shows on dvd and movies. But Pixar, Peter Jackson, Roland Emmerich, Guillermo Del Toro and Hayao Miyazaki are our favourite filmmakers.

Bookwise - we love the modern classics - like tolkien, anne rice, rowlings and kylie chan and really anything that looks interesting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering with Save the Elephants in Thailand was pretty awesome (also ecologically responsible). Probably the most epic was jumping off the Auckland skytower - just because we saw that we could....so we had to! Who doesn't want to jump off a giant 200m tower in the middle of a big traffic infested city? Sane People you say? Bah!

Teach, Learn, Share

We both come from very travel-centric families, so we both grew up knowing the best resource out there is fellow travellers. However sometimes the biggest disasters make for the best stories :P

What I Can Share with Hosts

Alex is a professional chef and we love to cook hosts a meal to say thank you for the hospitality. We are full of wacky travel stories and are awesome nerdy conversationalists.
