About Me

CURRENT MISSION

chillaxing in good company

ABOUT ME

I moved to Tokyo in January to teach English. I'm loving it in general, but I need to make more friends here!

I'll be in Seoul from 8/13-8/17.

PHILOSOPHY

Been trying to take any opportunities that come my way.

Sarcasm is my god.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I'm just looking to meet new people. I'm afraid my apartment is too small to host anyone, at the moment anyway. I've been exploring quite a lot in Tokyo on my own and sometimes with friends so I know a lot of places I could take other foreigners. I'd like to go for a drink, too.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've shown a guy round Shinjuku and I've gone with some other foreigners to an obstacle course in Chiba prefecture. Both times were pretty cool.

Interests

Linguistics, films, books, travelling, other cultures, astronomy, going for walks and day trips, cycling, swimming.

I think I could sustain myself on beer, chocolate, fish and curry.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: Studio Ghibli, Akira Kurosawa, The Big Lebowski, The Fifth Element

Music: Sigur Rós and other pretentious stuff; video game soundtracks

Books: Discworld, Tintin, Harry Potter, Millennium trilogy, Sherlock Holmes

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In my lifetime? That's a bit of a wide selection. I've had a lot of amazing days in Tokyo, too, although most of them were merely a series of cool things in succession. Off the top of my head, not sure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love linguistics and I could teach people about how languages work. I know ridiculous factoids about a wide variety of languages.

I'd love to learn more Japanese, though. I have only rudimentary skills. (Conversely, I can impart a few useful phrases on those with no skills whatsoever!!)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, United Kingdom
