About Me

I haven't used Couchsurfing for a while, but back on for my trip through the Balkans. I'm someone who just wants to learn about your culture and history and cuisine! Love hanging out outside with a few beers, just talking about history and politics and culture and LIFE.

I'm a freelance journalist as well as a writing and social studies teacher. I can tell you a lot about East Asia because that's a region of the world I lived in for half my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I lived in Taipei, I used to participate in many couchsurfing events. I also planned assorted events: picnics, art walks, barbecues, etc. I met some of my best friends there and love the open-heartedness of the community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

one amazing thing that i have seen in my lifetime is hike and bike around the hills of eastern Myanmar. I saw tens of thousands of bats stream out of a cave at sunset, saw 99 shades of green biking around the fields and forests, and climbed the sacred Mt. Zwegabin.

another amazing experience was the sunset in midyat in turkey, listening to holy azan amidst the hundreds of stone-carved homes and pastel colors of the sunset. something sacred and awe-inspiring that i will never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

As couchsurfers, we share joy and humor, food and drink, and our ideas and stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to go to local markets and cook with anyone I meet up with! (If I can find the ingredients, I can even cook a traditional Taiwanese meal for you and your friends!)

My favorite thing to do with people I meet is just to sit in the living room or around the campfire, sharing a few drinks and sharing our stories from traveling and very different backgrounds and lives.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam
