About Me

*** Fully vaxed and boosted! However, still a little hesitant about hosting during COVID, but really miss CouchSurfing and willing to tentatively get back into it! ***

I'm a literature major and ex-expat English teacher turned software engineer, with all the contradictions that implies. I'm fascinated by art, literature, history, film - anything humanities-related - but also, at heart, a super rational and logical person.

I love learning about new things and having discussions that involve analyzing and dissecting topics and ideas. I am gay and 90% vegan (or, as my friend calls it, AVAP - as vegan as possible 😂).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my two-year stint in Europe, I was able to surf and host quite a number of times, and those are often the trips that stand out the most when I think back on all my travels. Sites like this make traveling even more awesome than it already is, by giving you the possibility to make connections with people who perhaps you would never have met otherwise. I've learned at least one new thing (and usually more than that) from every host or surfer I've had!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Visiting Machu Picchu: despite the hype, it was seriously one of the most incredible things I've ever done
- Seeing Mt. McKinley in Alaska: we got really lucky and had a perfectly clear, sunny day, so we could see the entire mountain from bottom to top; it almost moved me to tears it was so incredible!

Teach, Learn, Share

Although I worked as an English teacher for two years, I'm not really qualified to teach anything. I can and probably will teach you some basic dance moves (there's so much great dancing in Austin), and I'd be happy to try and impart some knowledge about yoga, piano, guitar, literary theory ;) In return, I always enjoy learning about anything that others are passionate about!
