About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning to be a card-carrying member of the messy human community through travel and story.

ABOUT ME

I'm an outgoing introvert who loves to travel, meet new people, and explore new places. I like to write, hike, and be amazed by things I don't know. I enjoy facilitating my local hiking club, The Clearwater Trekkers (www.clearwatertrekker.com), as well as leading teams of youth and young adults on backpacking trips for a wilderness therapy program.

I love hosting CouchSurfers because they always have the best stories!

I appreciate being hosted by CouchSurfers because it feels like meeting new family members.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host, I travel, I share stories!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the Spring of 2012 I did a CS road trip from Coeur d'Alene, ID to Neah Bay, WA. Along the way I met up with and interviewed 5 fellow Couch Surfers for my CouchSurfing documentary, "Couch Cushions and Tree Stumps". It was a blast! I saw some beautiful country and met some amazing people. Once I returned to Coeur d'Alene, I was able to host a few people as well. I enjoyed being a part of their story.

In 2014, I was hosted by some CouchSurfers in Spain while hiking El Camino de Santiago, too. It was fun being able to see the town of Santiago through the eyes of someone who had been there for a while.

Interests

I need to travel. Being on the open road makes me feel alive and part of this world. And I enjoy sharing the stories of my adventures. Truth be told, I just like telling stories! Always have, since I was a little kid who learned how to write. My dream come true would be to spend my life traveling and telling stories about it! I love people. Their stories amaze me, humble me, and teach me. I am crazy curious about this world, the people in it, and why we are here.

I think the best places to share stories are over a cup of coffee, around the campfire, and on facebook. I enjoy dancing, although I feel awkward doing it. Videography and photography are dynamic ways to tell stories and enhance stories. So is music, but I can't seem to create that.

I think good stories are made up of adventures. Outdoor, active, scary, far away adventures. Some good adventures happen in your own backyard, too. I am eager to meet people who want to share adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a sci-fi/fantasy geek! The Princess Bride is one of my all time favorite movies. I dig Star Trek AND Star Wars. I like action movies, drama, comedy. My music is good ol' Rock and Roll. The Classic Rock station is saved on my car stereo. I enjoy most everything from Kansas to Disturbed! I also love classical music. Vivaldi is a favorite. As well as Tchaikovsky and David Garret, the modern violinist. Books? I'm usually packing a Bible, but I promise not to hit you with it! Orson Scott Card, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, and of course, Jim Butcher, just to name a few. I tend to know what flavors I like, but I'm always interesting in trying something new!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My last great adventure was backpacking El Camino de Santiago, some 500 miles from St. Jean-Pied-de-Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. From Santiago I took a bus to the coastal town of Finesterre, the End of the World.
