ABOUT ME

Laura: A straightforward, down to earth person, sometimes too serious and lack of sense of humour. Mostly left brain storming. Love self-discovery by reading, conversation, daily life and traveling as a individual backpacker. Wanna learn about LOVE for lifelong. Starting from eating no meat, being respectful, generous and patient to people and animals in order to get rid of the selfish part of herself. learning to execute it and teaching by example for her students and child.

Vernon: in contrary to Laura - creative, humorous, and has tons of crazy ideas. Mostly right brain storming. So he might forget keys or wallet somewhere, or throw personal belongings everywhere. He loves gourmets and can hardly say goodbye to meat till now. Good for him that he eats less and less meat after marrying Laura. Because his wife can make delicious vegetarian meals for the family. Very talkative, love all kinds of conversation. If you feel he is quiet, that is because he doesn't follow our topic in English. Please speak slowly. Snoring when sleeping, you've been warned. Haha!

Channing: Born in 4th of Nov, 2008. (We do really want to meet families with kids in similiar age! Come and be our guest!) He loves ABC songs, 123 songs, singing all day long. Fan of lightening Mcqueen and excavators. love swing, seesaw, slide, running, kicking balls, and bricks.. Can be active as well as silently sitting on the floor or at the desk, reading books, playing stickers or drawing with crayons on the paper even on the wall.

PinYu: We finally got our second baby in Feb, 2015! The little girl has been the smallest couchsurfer in Canada, Europe Cambodia and Japan. She is outgoing and hilarious!

PHILOSOPHY

Laura: I like things that go naturally. A proverb goes well:"If you want something very, very badly, let it go free. If it comes back to you, it's yours forever. If it doesn't, it was never yours to begin with."This comforts me in love relationship, work affair, friendship, and everything. I hate disappointment, so I try my best with everything, and see how the God will like me to go. I believe everything that happens is going to give me a lesson. What I have to do is reflection, reflection and reflection.
Vernon: Incurable optimist!

Interests

We like outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain climbing and cycling. Now our kid is small so we tend to go camping.

Music, Movies, and Books

Laura: Hollywood might fit public flavour, but never to be my taste. I prefer Indian, Thai, Iran, Singpore, Chinese and Taiwanese movies.I love heavy metal during my student age, I knew Europe(Superstitious) since my junior high and got crazy in them, and Nirvana in my college. Now I am getting older, not so strong heart. Norah Jones, Ono Lisa, Kevin Kern, George Winston comfort a lot. Classical is always my favorite. I play piano for leisure entertianment and I will play for you if you have a piano and would like me to do so.
Recent Reading: Chinese translation of Carl Wetter's Educational Laws, Self identify through Hooponopono, The Diamond Cutter, and Krishnamurti's biography.
Also plenty of books about healthy diet.

Vernon: Love all kids of action movies, enjoy our home cinema when Laura is not home(because Laura doesn't like that). Reading books about investment since work as a real estate agent.

Channing: Love soccer, Swimming, Badminton, table tennis, roller-skating, biking and all kinds of outdoor activities.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Laura: Submit Mt. Kilimanjaro, give birth, breast-feeding, cook and serve buffet many times, max for 30 people(Vernon's colleagues) together for a meal in our apartment.
Vernon: Finally qualified in the architect exam after 10 years and got the license, design many high residential buildings in Taichung urban area, interior design for our new apartment(proud of that Laura loves the kitchen island).
US: build a family, hosting interesting travelers at home! (can't image how life can be so much fun!)
Channing: Couchsurf 20+ families in Europe and US in his 3.5 years old.

Teach, Learn, Share

Everyone is unique. We do not only learn from others' advantages but also disadvantages. So whoever we meet, always helps with reflection.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In our past couchsurfing experience, our hosts love the food we made, such as water dumplings, and fried rice/noodles, tofu, taro, ... They also love the tea we prepared from Taiwan, the Oolong tea. Vernon enjoys talk about the architecture while Channing can be good campanion playing with the kids. He is caring and thoughtful. And the little one, Pinyu, I bet she will devote her big smile, you'll see.
