ABOUT ME

I'm 23 years old, a college graduate. I love to travel and learn new languages, try new foods, learn new skills. Being outdoors and in nature is very important to me but I also enjoy city life and a good party. I've spent most of my life learning things, in school and otherwise, and now I want to focus less on learning by studying, but more on learning by doing and experiencing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't surfed yet, but my college room mate hosted several surfers. It was great to meet some really interesting people. There was one French couple that was traveling the US making a documentary about disadvantaged minorities. We had another guy who was walking across the entire US pushing a cart.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Modest Mouse, cross-genre covers (Easy Star All-Stars), "Weird Al" Yankovic, The Offspring

Books: I love to read. Mostly I've read nonfiction (about all kinds of subjects: history, science, etc.) but lately I've been getting back into fiction. I really like historical novels, because I love imagining how real people lived in various times in the past. Also its a great way to learn history, with an interesting story. Beats a textbook.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One summer I and some friends climbed to the top of Mt. St. Helens in Oregon, USA, the live volcano that erupted in 1980. It wasn't that far to the summit but it was a very difficult hike up. The ground was ice and volcanic ash, and for every two steps forward you slide back one. Finally we reached the summit, exhausted, and saw the amazing view of the landscape. Then we peered over the edge into the crater. From the white field of snow, several smoking geysers of steam popped through. We were staring into the mouth of the volcano, and we knew that the steam was the direct evidence of the molten rock, the magma, that was directly below us. It was pretty cool.
