Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Studying, non-stop, which is pretty alienating, then travelling when I have spare time to see the world while I'm young!

ABOUT ME

Who am I?

I am a human, a primate, a mammal and an animal.
If I had to change species, I'd be a koala, because Marsupials grow up in a pouch, the word marsupial is cool, and I'd get to chill in a tree eating eucalyptus all day long. And I'd live in Australia, with my feelow Marsupial kangaroos and possums.

When I'm not dreaming about Marsupials, I'm a full time student, studying medicine at the University of Montreal, which is pretty fun, but time-consuming during the year. So I decompress during the summer by traveling the most I can, when I can, with the little money I have!

I absolutely love travelling. I want to see everything in the world, from top to bottom, inside and out. I like to go off the beaten tracks and visit things others won't, little places nobody thinks about. I like to take my time during my travels, and live it to the maximum. The thing I hate the most is having to cut off certain destinations, because I feel like every place in the world is worth my time and can bring something special to my travels.

I like animals, humans and the rest. I have two cats, even if I'm allergic (a bit masochistic, I must admit). One is named Oreo, and the other Vector, but Vector looks more like an oreo than Oreo does, but Vector is Oreo's son, so we could'nt know before Oreo gave birth to Vector, so... why am I saying this to you?

Right, who am I...?

Let's go to the cheezy part (imagine a slow violin playing in the background). I'm a fun, nice, easy-going young guy. I like a good party and a nice chat. I'm open minded, respectful, talkative, and a good listener. I can cook and appreciate good food. I'm always eager to learn new things and live new experiences. I want to get to know everyone. I want to live, plain and simple.

PHILOSOPHY

Jean-Paul Sartre, an existentialsm monolith and great philisopher, once said : "existence precedes essence". This is what I want to live by. No path is set before you, nobody decides for you, you just exist. You have to grab your life by the horns and make something out of it. We are who we make of ourselves. We are "condemned to be free" (Sartre again).

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I pretty much surf everywhere I can, so I can live the local life, and spread my joy all over the world!
I currently can't host, because I'm living at my parent's house, but once I live alone, I'll be sure to give back to the CouchSurfing community who helped me during my trips around the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed when I could during my bike trip from Paris to Amsterdam in Summer 2012. Everyone who hosted me during that trip (my first with CouchSurfing), are very close to my heart.
I surfed pretty much the whole three weeks I was in South Korea in Summer 2013, which was an amazing experience. I'm eternally grateful to every single person who made my trip a blast.

Intereses

I love sports, especially soccer (or football for everyone in the world) and snowboarding. I also love to play and watch every other sport that exists. I'd like to learn how to surf and kitesurf.
I love playing and listening to music. I play the piano and the saxophone.
I love reading.
I absolutely love food! I love making it, I love smelling it, I love eating it. I want to taste every cuisine that exists on this earth.

Música, películas y libros

I love everything, really, well... almost everthing.
Movies : From crazy funny movies like Archorman (the first one, a CLASSIC), to kick-ass action like Django, to more serious movies like Prisoners by Denis Villeneuve (rent it if you haven't seen it). Anything really.
Music : Ok, I hate country music, but I respect anyone who likes it. I love EDM (kinda into the underground electro-house-trance-rave scene), but also great Alternative artists, like Mumford and Sons, Half Moon Run (Montreal represent), James Blake, SOHN, etc. I admit, I'll listen to Pop too once in a while.
Books : I read a lot, and I pretty much loved every book I read, but some are real favorites. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, 1984 by George Orwell, 99 Francs by Frédéric Beigbeder, among many others!

Algo increíble que he hecho

When I went to Spain, we visited the small town of Consuegra, which is known for it's old windmills. We climbed the castle and I got to see all the windmills, as well as the hills and valleys around us from a great vantage point. Amazing view!
During my bike trip in Europe, I got to see everything between Paris in Amsterdam, from the biggest cities to the smallest countryside towns. I'll never forget the amazing views along the coast near Bologne-sur-Mer (I later learned that it was a Tour-de-France route, no wonder it was so hard!), and in the mountains between Liège and Aachen. Just an amazing trip!
I backpacked across Korea in 2013. Since my friends and I were tight on budget, we camped a couple times in random spots, which turned out to be amazing adventures. On a rock on top of a mountain, on a beach after a 10km walk to get there, in a campground at the base of an extinct volcano we had to hitchhike to at midnight. Not the best sleep, but good stories!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I don't know much, but I always like to learn new exciting things.
I love to share my thoughts, views and experiences, and I want to know everyone else's too!
