About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

A male man who's taken to traveling, albeit a little later than most, my late 20's, and though I hate to admit it, now my early 30's, who, for starters anyway, loves to paint, draw and write. Though I make no money from these ventures I enjoy sharing them. I am an Englishman and an optimist (?!), which is a rare breed. I cook fairly well.

PHILOSOPHY

To paint the cat the apple implies (sounds a bit much, though funny, I'm quoting Picasso I think).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed only once so far which was enough to convince me... I will definitely host when I am able.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In New Zealand... my first hosts where amazingly generous and kind... showed me a glimpse of kiwi life in the capital, for a few weeks actually, don't worry I know its usually for a night or two!

Interests

At the risk of sounding like a complete bore; food, drink, the Arts rah, rah, rah... Comedy, literature, SHORT novels, no novel need be written if it can't be condensed into 200 pages (300 at most). Mornings.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy Django Reinhardt, Billy Holiday, and Blur. I like films by Akira Kurosawa, I like the way they look, though they can be long. Interesting, alternative films that have a sense of humor, even its quite well hidden. Point Break. Books; Have just discovered Peter Carey, I love Murakami, Richard Ford, Raymond Caver, John Updike, J.G. Ballard and Bill Watterson. Hemingway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent some weeks busking with a Canadian friend in Wellington... was our sole income for a while. I learned to appreciate ...things a little more, you know... things. You do when you don't have them. Alright looking back now maybe it wasn't THAT dark... was a great experience though. Before I wouldn't even sing in front of one person let alone a high street full of them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach, share and would like to learn more on guitar. I can show you how to draw... cook... bake bread. I am always looking for new recipes and tips (that sounds so twee, I'm so f---ing English sometimes). I collect 'useful phrases' in other languages, if you are from somewhere where they speak another language then great. I am not interested, much, in how to swear in your language... think useful... interesting, surreal, but useful.
