About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world! Or as much of it as I possibly can :)

ABOUT ME

I'm adventurous, free-spirited, outgoing, down-to-earth, and friendly. My partner and I live in the woods on the side of a mountain in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I have always had a life-long love of traveling. Last year, at the age of 65, I got my motorcycle license, and enjoy riding with my partner, who has been riding his whole life. Meeting new people and having new experiences has always been a thrill for me. I relish the thought of once again putting on my traveling shoes and taking in more of the world and meeting new faces/friends of those with whom I share it.

PHILOSOPHY

Cat Stevens said it best:

"Oh very young what will you leave us this time,
You're only dancing on this earth for a short while....
...and if you want this world to see a better day,
will you carry the words of love with you..."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm in travel mode. I want to go, see and do! At some point in the not-too far future I look forward to hosting as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started my CS experience 8 yrs ago and LOVED it! Love meeting new people and seeing new places. I've traveled across the country with my daughter, who is a seasoned couch surfer, having surfed across the country (a second time) solo.

Interests

I'm in the Arts. Specifically, music and theatre. I'm a professional actor, singer, director and teacher, and I've also composed/penned a few musical works (musical as in 'musical theatre'). I am currently attempting to write my memoirs -but whew~ that's taking more time than I'd thought. So back to the answer: In addition to the arts, I'm into history, genealogy -am quite invested in doing family research. I love photography and videography. I love hiking (have always aspired to hike the AT), and as the daughter of a former pro baseball player, I'm a baseball fan. My work is eclectic but all within the arts for which I have boundless passion and energy. I have a private instruction studio for voice and acting, and I work with young people in theatre (teaching, directing). I am creative and when I'm working on a project I have the focus of a bloodhound. But during the "off-season", I yearn to travel. When I can't actually do it for one reason or another, I find myself spending time looking on the internet at places I'd like to one day visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies --I like good story telling, be it romance, drama, action or thriller. I'm not into gratuitous violence.
Music --Super eclectic here. There is no genre of music I can't appreciate.
Books --Again, a good story if its fiction. I love mysteries. I'm also a fan of Bios. And for those lazy beach vacations, a good old trashy romance!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first time I got into an airplane I was a senior in high school. Our class went to (then communist) Russia. I remember being on a bus in Moscow, as we left Red Square. All the children in their colorless uniforms, all the soldiers everywhere --it was a city with no color at that time.

Another memory was my first trip to Hawaii. I remember descending out of the clouds and seeing the tiny dots that made up the islands growing larger as we descended. It was the most beautiful site I'd ever seen and I thought "this must be Paradise". Years later, I went back to Hawaii and stayed on an organic vegetable farm on Kauai --stayed in a tent and worked in the gardens. A very different but equally rewarding experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want a voice lesson or an acting lesson, or if you want me to sweep through your community and mount an outstanding musical theatre production -I'm your gal. I have pretty good sleuthing skills too, as in genealogical research.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not much of a cook, but I'm a great conversationalist and excellent kitchen "cleaner-upper". :)
