About Me

ADVENTURER • NOMAD • EXPLORER

My name is Anna :-) welcome to my profile. Three years ago, I 'quit' my normal life to start traveling the world by bicycle. I have already cycled parts of Europe and most of the U.S.
Carrying only minimal gear with me, I found that by camping most nights and sleeping under the stars, I seem to learn most about myself.

The times on the open road with all the unknown ahead are the times I am the happiest and most secure, with people who know my core and live solely for the purpose of unmediated experiences and love, from which purpose itself is born.
I am trying to get away. A world, far off, and nothing but my breath and the very next pedal stroke. The feeling of conquering my own aliveness, with no task but to keep moving; making every way the right way.
I am convinced that people are, by nature, nomadic, but we built up anti-human constructs that keep us from being truly alive. By traveling on a something as simple as a bicycle, I allow myself to wander off into the vast jungles of cultures, languages and religions. This often leads to me stumbling upon life-altering, new ways of thinking, living and being. Yet, I am in no rush to figure everything out. Instead, I embrace the unknown and let the road surprise me.
Therefore, I decided to temporarily take leave from the safety of everyday life to experience an adventure where my only worries are riding, finding food and water, and a place to sneak a few hours of sleep. Forgetting all my self-imposed limits just to see what I am truly capable of.

On January 15th, 2017 I set out for my biggest journey so far. I flew to Hong Kong and started cycling across very remote areas in China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia. My plan is now to fly from Singapore to Almaty and start out to cycle the Pamir Highway on my way to Europe.

I have soooo many great stories to share, and am equally interested in your travels and journey on this wonderful planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I cannot always offer a couch myself since I am living in my tent, but will as soon as I settle down somewhere :-)

Yet, Couchsurfing is sooo much more than a free place to stay. I will only request to stay for more than just one night (yes, you will be bothered with me for a while) because I am interested in the cultural exchange and learning process, which can only be provided by local hosts.
