About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spend the summer in Tokyo

ABOUT ME

I like to meet new people, I like to see new places and get out of my comfort zone.
I guess I'm not a shy person, pretty open and direct (like most dutch people) but I don't bite so don't worry. People describe me as being quite sarcastic, and sometimes call me a nihilist.
I'm interested in a lot of things and I'm quite a curious person I guess.
Can both enjoy jumping around at a concert/party or just chill out in piyama and have long conversations.
Each time I read my profile after a while I kinda hate it cause it can seem so cheesy etc, so hard to really give a description of yourself!

PHILOSOPHY

Not really sure yet. Let's start a new Dada movement!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

First as a surfer, now as a host!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Travelled for three months through Japan using couchsurfing almost exclusively. It was a really wonderfull experience!

Interests

Looking at art (especially modern/contemporary) and sometimes trying my hand at it, too. Listening to vinyl records and going to gigs/festivals. I love small worthless things like a candy wrappers or plastic pink dinosaurs. I'm interested in philosophy, obviously.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love alternative/underground music. Psychedelica, garage, folk, shoegaze, tweepop, kiwi rock, you name it. To throw in some random things that are on my Ipod: White Fence, Ariel Pink, Sean Nicholas Savage, Vivian Girls, Thee Oh Sees, Ty segall, Slowdive, Beat Happening, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Talulah Gosh, Yo La Tengo, Nick Drake, Mark Fry, Can, T.Rex, Shonen Knife, Daniel Johnston, Connan Mockasin. And The Velvet Underground forever and ever.
Sooooo digging 80's and 90's underground labels like Flying Nun Records and K Records at the moment.

Love arthouse films. Favorite movie of all time is Lost in Translation! Second favorite movie is Ghost World. Mystery Train is also really good. Actually, i like everything with either Bill Murray or Steve Buscemi in it.

I haven't taken the time to properly read for long, but mostly like American or Japanese literature. Some of my favorite books: Less Than Zero, Bright Lights Big City, On the Road. Murakami is a cool guy, I like talking cats.

I feel like a pretentious fuck now, bye!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleep in Mali on an open rooftop beneath a starry sky. Feeling lost in translation in Japan during my three months of travelling there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you a thing or two about philosophy. Also, I can show you around cool places in Amsterdam that are not just about weed and prostitutes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mali, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Spain
