About Me

***NOTICE****

Dear students moving to Trier for studies,

Unfortunately we are not hosting people looking for apartments, otherwise we would always have a roommate living here for free. CouchSurfing is primarily for travelers and meeting locals on your journey, so we find it important to keep our room available for people in those situations.

****************

“You have a lot of personality,” they tell me. It makes me chuckle because that’s all any of us are. A personality with a handful of different life experiences.

I’m a maker and a doer unless I’m sitting on my couch being anxious about relaxing. I’m an all or nothing kind of person. I either go 30 days solo on a bicycle just to see if I can, or I don’t leave the apartment for weeks at a time. There’s no in-between for me.

I’m the oldest of nine kids – five of whom were adopted. I was raised Christian and homeschooled, and at some point turned into an agnostic, equality-loving queer. And that’s just the beginning of my story.

My passion is to create. Whether it’s music, writing, photography, or businesses, I've always got something cooking. Speaking of which, I love cooking.

I am not exactly a natural at it, but I’m trying hard to learn more languages than English. When I lived in San Diego, my Spanish was okay. Nowadays, it’s all German.

I currently live with my girlfriend in Germany. I enjoy the relief that comes with quality of life, emotional stability, and a lovely apartment to come home to every night. I am fairly minimalist, so this is definitely the most stuff I’ve owned for quite a while now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I originally joined CouchSurfing in 2012 as part of a 48 state road trip through the USA. It changed my life and the way I view the world and the travel community.

Aside — I originally joined under a joint profile, where you can read the first 16+ reviews about me if my current profile doesn't satisfy you: http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/rachelsurfs/
