About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Stay sane!

ABOUT ME

A quiet but thoughtful guy who has a strong sense of fair play and recognises that society works best if we try to give as much as we take from it. I'm new to Hungary and am trying to make new friends and learn the language.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to have a positive outlook and convince myself that I can do new tasks that I've not tried before. Too many people have the opposite approach and shy away from unfamiliar activities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm hoping the site will help me to build a new social life as well as offer and receive free accommodation.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've so far mainly only hosted but I surfed 6 nights with 5 different hosts on a recent road trip to northern Scotland.

Interests

I love the natural world, forests, mountains lakes, wildlife etc but regard cities as a necessary evil. I like old technology, classic motorbikes and cars, valve radios and tape recorders. I enjoy being part of a shrinking world as travel and communication opportunities improve.

Music, Movies, and Books

Monty Python, Wallace & Gromit + other British comedies. Music taste very varied, including rock, blues, classical guitar, '20s jazz, Scottish folk, Santana, '70s progressive stuff etc.
Read mostly sci-fi but don't get much access to English language books these days.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In New Zealand I saw glaciers and got a good demonstration of global warming, as you now have a 10 minute walk from the car park that was built a few years ago right next to the glacier.

Teach, Learn, Share

Anyone who can teach me Hungarian!

France, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain
