ABOUT ME
***************
- I grew up in the countryside of Japan, lived in the mountains of Switzerland, and cities in Canada. I spent some time in urban Senegal as well as grasslands of Paraguay, now I'm living in an old wooden house in Kyoto.

- I love to cook, Japanese food or other cuisine. Good food, good music, and good people are all I need in my life. Though, a few drinks never hurt.

- I'm a forest ecologist working in University of Innsbruck (moving to Austria in Jan/2018).
My main interest is the mortality of trees and how they experience the process.

- I've been lucky enough to visit many countries in this world. Partly due to my work in field research, and partly for fun :) I love to experience new cultures and beautiful ecosystems around the world, but I'm also sometimes unsure if I'm experiencing or consuming them. Tourists can suffocate local cultures and it's hard thing to reconcile. For me, CS is a good way to at least try to keep me in check.

HOUSE RULE
***************
Unless you are 100% comfortable with with people's identity, choice of life, religion etc etc, or at least willing to put effort to get comfortable with, please stay away from my place. I really don't want to deal with that at home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There is a beauty in excluding money from simple human relationship and encounters. CS is not a service. Doing Airbnb would be stressful, yuk.

This also means I have my life, and plans change. I understand some people want to "reserve" my place a few months in advance, but I can't accept your requests until 1~3 weeks before your arrival. I apologize in advance if I hang on to your requests for a while.

Interests

Finding neat hidden bars and restaurants. There needs to be a good dose of chaos.

Cooking, eating, drinking, food of any sorts.
I became a vegetarian a while ago, but my passion for funky things haven't left.

I really enjoy rhythms and noise in beautiful music (not much harsh noise or any metal related music). Just the healthy dose of noise :)
