About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make new friends, enjoy life to the fullest and explore my new city of San Francisco

ABOUT ME

I'm a writer, foodie, introvert, dog-lover, and most recently, a couch-surfer.

PHILOSOPHY

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing" - wise words from Helen Keller

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to the couch-surfing community and looking forward to meeting new people to share experiences and ideas with.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No actual couch-surfing experience yet - but I had a great time hanging out with a couchsurfer in Montreal. I'm really looking forward to my first full-fledged couch-surfing experience!

Interests

I did stand-up comedy for two years (which often surprises people because I can be very quiet when you first meet me).

I spend my time writing (right now, mostly columns about food and humor essays), reading, traveling when I can afford it, armchair traveling when I can't, cooking, doing yoga and kickboxing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
I recently read "Amazing Adventures of a Nobody" by Leon Legothetis. The author quits his soul-deadening job and travels from Times Square, NYC to Hollywood relying only on the kindness of strangers (and a budget of $5 a day). It's an amazing, life-altering book!

I love humor essays and memoirs. My favorite authors are Augusten Burroughs, David Sedaris and Sloane Crossley.

I also love travel memoirs, mysteries and I've recently developed an infatuation with cookbooks and food writing.

TV: I'm a huge Seinfeld fan and will often relate day to day situations to a corresponding Seinfeld episode.

I love 80s private detective shows like Simon and Simon and the Rockford Files, as well as 80s action shows like MacGyver and the A-Team.

And I'm a Buffy fan.

Movies: At the moment, my favorite movie is "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World".

Music: 80s post punk, classic punk rock, Goth, novelty rap like MC Lars and I have a weakness for unusual cover songs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was blown away by my first trip to Montreal last summer - especially when I stumbled onto the Les Quartiers des Spectacles. There were lights everywhere and trapeze artists and new surprises with every corner I turned.

Teach, Learn, Share

I recently learned how to cook (after a lifetime of being kitchen-phobic) so I can share my secrets for making baked goat cheese :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, United Kingdom, United States
