About Me

Hello! My name is Dyanna and I recently graduated from university in the US where I studied Ecology and Global Development. I am currently in Indonesia supporting research on greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation processes. Afterwards, I will be spending the fall in Europe engaging with youth mobilizations and advocacy leading up to the UN Climate Talks in Paris in December. I dedicate most of my time to furthering the Climate Justice movement at home. I am a lover of people and places, and would love to share a conversation with you along my travels!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have used couch surfing in the States on road trips and an in Canada while on a cycling tour. CS has brought me to some of the most creative and generous people and communities. My travels would be far less vibrant without the fellow surfers and fantastic hosts that I have met along the way.

I don't have a couch to offer up at the time, but am excited to host people later in life when I can!

Interests

I a lover of sunrises and I'm always searching for a good pick-up soccer match. A day outdoors is ideal and I am a huge coffee fan--drinking it, making it, and sharing it.

Tolstoy - The Death of Ivan Illich
Einstein - The World As I See It
David Mitchell - Cloud Atlas

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This past summer, I lived on a bike for two months, traveling through Canada on the Energy East Resistance Ride. We were cycling along the route of the proposed Energy East Pipeline, which would carry tar sands from Alberta to the East Coast, threatening communities, biodiversity, and contributing to climate change. We collected stories along the way of the grassroots organizing building against the pipeline to create a collective narrative of resistance in the region.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach you about the fight for climate justice--the beauty of the movement and the small piece of it where I fit in. I know a bit about climate policy in the states and how this connects to the UN Climate Talks and the lead up to the next global climate treaty to be signed in Paris in 2015.

Russian literature is also a favorite of mine.

I would love to learn about what moves you, what drives you, your hopes, your fears, your dreams. These are the conversations that keep me going.
