About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Give and take and then something else

ABOUT ME

There isn´t enough space here for this topic. For anyone.

PHILOSOPHY

Some people live to eat; others eat to live. Some writers teach so they can write; some write so they can teach. I...can't think of a clever way to end this part.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS during the end of my days in China. Didn´t have a chance to host anyone. Then I spent a year working in Oman, where very few people bother to go. Once I´m settled in Azerbaijan, I should have a couch for someone.

Edit: I've since moved to Moscow, where there is definitely a couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with a 62-year-old American married to a Honduran woman in San Pedro Sula, though I´m not sure if this counts as couchsurfing, since I got to sleep on a bed.

Interests

I like hiking but dislike biking; I like the ocean but don't like the beach. Learning takes up a lot of my time, teaching probably a little less, though I only get paid for one of them. The stuff I read is presumably superior to the crap I write.

Music, Movies, and Books

I think this is the cherry on top, not the cake.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Admiring the cloud forest in Monteverde, Costa Rica.
-Watching the sunrise from the summit of Mt. Fuji.
-Skydiving near Honolulu. In the rain.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach how not to fall into a squatting toilet.
Learn how to do a hadouken.
Share my survival stories, including an encounter with Somali pirates, being stranded in the largest expanse of sandy desert in the world (hint: not the Sahara), being in Cairo right before the protests exploded on 30 June 2013, and...cycling away from a horde of Indian children who really wanted pens.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food and lodging and lavatory facilities.
