COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

New experience. Just received a few replies so great.
Great experience. Met up and stayed with a few hosts in South Korea. Just wonderful wonderful wonderful.
One thing to highlight. My 7-year old son had an emergency situation there. We called ambulance and had help from couchers to interpret for us. One of the couchers actually came to the hospital to assist. Another coucher in Seoul made arrangement for us to do a medical review a few days later. So thankful!!!

UPDATE 2015 - we did Melbourne-Adelaide family road trip. Thank you to all the CS members offered us their couches. Great OZ hospitality. TQ Rob @Nhill who offered 4WD experience. And hey we now know how to catch Yabi! Couldn't meet FarmerJim due to change of schedule (part of life!) BUT coincidentally we were warned by tourist info centre to not travel that day due to fire warning. TQ Chris @Beachport for advice and hope Cynthia is getting better. Chris @AldingaB, we rainchecked the caravan offer! Numerous others who offered travel tips etc. TQ.
UPDATE 2017 - was offered by Sylvia Hsu to stay with her family at Nantou when we were in Taiwan but we didn't get to. TQ Sylvia for all the information.

Interests

Travelling. We like to take both short and long trips. Almost all are self-drive trips as it gives us the freedom to explore anywhere, anytime. When travelling, we appreciate the experience with locals. From simple things like asking for direction... to actually having a good chat over meal with them.... and the occasionally privilege of staying with them too... and that's just EXCELLENT!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

awestruck? hmm.. ok there was once when we were driving in northern part of Thailand... it was a "main road" but only 2-lane ones in this hilly place. Suddenly there was something lying on the road ahead of us - a toddler! She just slowly stood up and walked to the side.
Versailles... Just "grand".

What I Can Share with Hosts

travel stories... how people live differently in various parts of the world, and yet we are all really the same.
languages... it depends.
food... surely we have time for this!
laughter... i may make my children sing and dance
friendship... that is why CS is GREAT.
