Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Selling off everything I own, so I can live & work abroad. [delayed due to severe Lisfranc fracture; spending 2014 recuperating and attending as many concerts and music festivals as I can]

ABOUT ME

Lover of "Get Fuzzy", New England Patriots, animals at the shelter, people, travel, good food, God.

I am flexible, open-minded, easy-going and respectful. Becoming more forthright and more transparent is important to me. I'd say that I'm getting pretty good at it. I care about people and the animals at the shelter and a million other things. I am honest. I hate going through the process of anything, but I am learning. I am sarcastic and sometimes I have a dry sense of humor. It can be pretty deadpan and people don't know I'm joking - that's when things get awkward and I end up looking like a jerk. :o) I like dark comedies. I am twisted like that.

I like people who are forthright and who "own" who they are (to the best of their ability). I don't like bullies, arrogant jerkfaces, violence and condescension. Smoking and drinking aren't part of my lifestyle any more, but I don't mind it when others do.

I enjoy having a good time (in many different forms) with good company. I am far from perfect. Sometimes I care about that and sometimes I don't.

PHILOSOPHY

Love people. Love God. Live.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couch Available.
Will probably use this more in the future to do some actual Couchsurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not a lot of CS experience yet. I have hosted a few people and LOVED it, though. Looking forward to more.

I have gone to Tokyo, Japan upon the invitation of a stranger that I met on a plane from Detroit to California. Stayed with her and her husband on a military base there a month or so later.

Also have stayed one month with someone I didn't know while volunteering in Bulgaria; and three weeks with multiple strangers in Kazakhstan. I like meeting people. Great experiences!

Oh, right, and I housesit for people -- occasionally strangers. Have references for that.

Intereses

Hiking, traveling locally and abroad, listening to music.

My goal was to sell off everything I owned and travel. Two days after getting my house proceeds, I broke my foot in a most expensive fashion. :) No walking for months, no driving for five months... Kinda put a damper on the travel plans! Plans for travel are also being deferred due to medical bills and my foot requiring significant time to heal.

In the meantime, I've decided that, this year, I will attend as many live music events (concerts, festivals, etc) as I possibly can. So far, I've seen: The Fighting Jamesons, Delta Rae, Flogging Molly, and Dropkick Murphys and other awesome bands at ShamrockFest in DC. In June, I'm going to Bonnaroo in TN (EEEEKKKKK!!), possibly spending a day at Firefly Fest, etc, with other local/smaller events in between. If any of ya are going to these, would love to meet up.

Will travel to New England this summer and hope to make it down to North Carolina in the spring and fall. (If my foot has healed enough, I want to climb Mount Mitchell - highest point on the Eastern seaboard - within 18 months of the foot injury.) Hoping to climb Mount Rogers this spring, as well.

I also love to meet new friends. I am friendly, optimistic and generally positive. I like the same in others.

Música, películas y libros

Music:
Celtic Punk -- Dropkick Murphys, The Mahones, Flogging Molly, The Fighting Jamesons, etc.
Aerosmith - all time favorite band
Alanis Morissette
Punk -- the Ramones, The Clash, The Cure, etc.
Indie music of various types
I really like lots of music, and would love - at some point - to gain a real understanding of it.

Movies & TV:
I hardly watch any movie twice. I'll watch certain TV shows (The Office, South Park, Archer, etc) multiple times, though.

Books:
I have a habit of starting books and never finishing them. I tell myself that I like to read, but never make time for it. Still deciding where I really stand on the issue. :)

Algo increíble que he hecho

I have been blessed in so many ways. Sometimes, just day-to-day life is amazing to me. I live with a lot of gratitude in my heart for the awesome gift of living. Some "on paper" amazing things, though: volunteered in Bulgaria at an orphanage, took a weekend trip to Greece and got an unplanned tattoo (and never regretted it), taught English for a couple weeks in Kazakhstan. Life is amazing - all of it, big and small. Grateful.
