About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live without regrets

ABOUT ME

I love adventure and never pass up an opportunity to meet people and try new things. I believe there is as much adventure to be had close to home as there is far away. I try to live a good simple life - to be kind to people, to take care of the environment, and to stand up for things I believe in.

PHILOSOPHY

Just say yes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am fairly new to Couchsurfing and looking forward to hosting/surfing more!

Interests

When I am at home, my quiet time is spent reading, writing, gardening, urban foraging and cooking crazy things. I paint and draw a bit too. I also love going out to see live music, theatre and art shows with friends.

When I travel, I like to explore the culture of the place I am visiting by chatting with the locals, trying cultural dishes and drinks, learning bits of the language, visiting markets and absorbing some history. It is also an amazing opportunity to share experiences with fellow travellers! I feel so honoured to have made lifelong friends through traveling!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am in a very nerdy/awesome book club (we like to call it book pub) with some great people. Some of my favourite reads have been 'The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay', "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao' and 'Lullabies for Little Criminals'.

I am currently reading '100 Years of Solitude' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

I also have a goal of reading one giant Russian classic per winter. I feel it is nerdily appropriate to read them in the context in which they were written, assuming Canadian winters can be compared to Russian winters. This past winter, I read Anna Karenina, which was awesome!

As for music: I am hooked on anything Bon Iver and Jose Gonzales. There are others as well...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Cave-tubing in Belize - Floating through underground rivers in the jungle. Bats overhead and the occasional snake in the water. Excellent diving and beautiful clear waters.

- Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza - The ingenuity and brilliance of the Mayans was mind-blowing!

- Cycling through the wine region of Mendoza, Argentina - Boozy biking from one bodega to the next with the beautiful Andes in the background.
