About Me

After 10 years living the expat life in incredible Tokyo, Japan, I have decided to take on a new challenge: In August 2017, I moved to Tel Aviv to be with my Israeli boyfriend and seek out new adventure! I am still trying to figure out this amazing city, but I'm looking forward to exploring it more with locals and other travelers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people from all over the world. When I was living in Tokyo I hosted a LOT and had some amazing experiences. I hope to continue hosting everyone now and then in Tel Aviv, and of course use CS to meet people on my own travels!

Interests

Travel is my main passion of course. I am definitely a city person and I really enjoy exploring huge metropolises like London, New York, Hong Kong, etc.

I am also a huge foodie! I lived in Tokyo for 10 years and had a truly amazing time exploring the unbelievable dining scene there. Tel Aviv is also great for eating out and I'm always on the look out for anew restaurants to try!

My other interests include reading, nightlife, discussing both international and American politics (I was a Government major after all!), karaoke, fashion, running, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm very much a top 40 kinda guy; I love pop music. I'm more about the song than the artist, but I do have a few artists (Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Lad Gaga) whose careers I follow and albums I always buy. I also listen to some Japanese and Korean music, and am getting interested in EDM (somebody give me some suggestions). I like pretty much anything you can dance to.

Books: I am a pretty big reader; I'm usually reading something on my kindle as well as an audio book I listen to while I run. I like novels of all genres as well as some non-fiction, usually political stuff. I'm a sucker for suspenseful page turners and epic, character driven novels that follow a cast of characters over a long period of time. Recently, Red Rising by Pierce Brown, Serena by Ron Rash, and Something Like Summer were all books that I loved, but for very different reasons.

Movies: Don't make it to the theater as much as I used to since it's so expensive in Tokyo, but I love watching movies. I'm a huge Tarantino fan, and after traveling to Spain I'm OBSESSED with Pedro Almodovar. Also, it's not a movie, but I am HUGE Breaking Bad fan! I really think that show is like TV equivalent of a great work of literature and I could talk about it for hours. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting Petra, Jordan was absolutely unbelievable. It definitely lives up to the hype!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach English or Japanese (I speak it fluently). I lived in Japan for a decade and traveled all over the country, so I can offer advice if you have plans to visit!

Learn: Very interested in improving my Hebrew and Spanish! Definitely have a long way to go both of them.

Share: I would hope we can share dinner or drinks. I already have a view places I like in Tel Aviv but definitely want to see new ones!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, advice about traveling in Japan, hopefully a meal and a bottle or two of wine. :)
