About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I've finished exploring my country, time to go out and explore the world.

ABOUT ME

https://www.facebook.com/bengs

I love having conversations about a wide range of topics on books, movies, life and human existence, science, environmental issues, etc.
I am an educator, I love teaching; I myself have never stopped learning after finishing university, and try to do a new field of study every year or two. Right now I'm currently focused on learning Spanish and German to at least B2 level.
I love the outdoors, hiking and camping are two of my favorite pastimes, as well as extreme sports such as parasailing and skydiving. I also must try any new food I lay my eyes on, there's really nothing I won't eat.

PHILOSOPHY

I live life and I enjoy it. I don't let anything get me down. I take great pride in my job, and as such it does not feel like work to me. I love my friends and family, they support me in everything I do, and I do the same for them.
Pay it forward.
I follow the religion of humanism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Getting to know travelers to TT, showing them my favorite destinations (food, waterfalls, historical areas) on the island.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted and limed with a few CS'ers in 2012, 2014, and 2015. Couchsurfed with 4 people in Chile and Argentina in 2013. Muy bueno.

Interests

Hiking, camping, swimming, adventuring, cooking, reading, watching movies, pursuing further education in fields I have had no prior experience in.
Visiting the markets in every new city/country I'm in, and trying almost every single new food I've never eaten before.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fantasy/Sci-fi Books and Movies, and lately, tons of environmental research; some of my favorite shows are Community, Breaking Bad and Top Chef; I'm a fan of most music genres, especially pop/rock/trance, but my favorite bands are Coldplay, Of Monsters and Men, Pink Floyd, Armin van Buren and Dash Berlin.
Some of my favorite movies are: LOTR trilogy, 500 days of summer, Kill bill, inception, the departed, ferris beuller's day off, the fountain, scott pilgrim.....many others

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving, walking into an active volcano, sailing a boat solo during a storm, seeing Coldplay live in concert.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, so can be helpful in teaching non native English speakers. Currently pursuing a host of environmental science research, with the aim of starting my PhD in 2016.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook almost all of Trinidad and Tobago's indigenous food, which is a fusion of Indian/African/Caribbean foods. When I'm surfing, I always bring a few ingredients from home to "make a cook" for my hosts.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Saint Lucia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Trinidad and Tobago
