About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn

ABOUT ME

I gave up my NYC high-rise apartment and most of my 'stuff' about a year ago, bought a car, and am now boundless. I'm still working [freelance] which can happen anywhere, so there didn't seem to be a point in staying in one place anymore. I like trying on a city/place for a month/day or two and discovering, exploring, learning, doing.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe you get back what you put out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like doing, exploring, thinking... I can be in the middle, leading, or off on my own tick.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just found out about this site from some British hitch-hikers I picked up in Pt. Reyes last weekend. However. I have arguably been couch surfing my whole life as both host and traveller. I enjoy seeing things again for the first time through someone else's eyes. I enjoy being generous and joking around. It has not been uncommon for me to squire folks i met on the subway around NYC for 3 hours.

Interests

I am interested in how things come together.
When I learn about something new and I can link that in my mind with something I already know, there's a brief moment of understanding the universe that is fleeting and vast, but deeply pleasurable.
I like taking pictures too.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a sucker for lounge-y electronica chillout - Lemon Jelly is a perennial favorite.
I like books on history, theology, neurology, ancient civilizations - and hopefully all four at once! Just read: Cleopatra, The Grand Design, National Parks, Daemon, Zero: the Biography of a Dangerous Idea, and the list is endless

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A moment of pure freedom. It was the first time I had given up everything, put a bag on my back and hit the road. I was on the beach in San Diego watching the ocean and I realized I could do anything. I was free to continue, turn around, stop, start, anything. That this moment was timeless and the essence of life. For an eternity, the universe, time, gods, pet rocks and the Kardashians all made perfect sense. And then it was gone before I could grasp it. I've spent many days trying to get it back.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty good with a camera and have a cool graphic take on the universe. I've got a lot of knowledge, both real and imagined in my head that pops out of my mouth at relatable moments... I want to learn... more.
