ABOUT ME

Some people say I am German, I'd consider myself a citizen of the world. Born in the Ukraine, growing up in Germany, exposed to a mix of cultures made it natural for me to live all over the place. I have spent a year in Australia and France and lived ftwo years in the US. Currently I live in Spain (Tenerife).

As a citizen of the world you need to be able to speak the local languages. Therefore, I made it my goal to speak 10 by the time I retire. Soon my Spanish should be fluent. Since the retirement age in Germany keeps on increasing I guess I have about 110 years to go for the remaining 5 languages, that should be possible.

I finished my Masters in Aerospace Engineering but decided to be my own boss. With my friend we launched an online marketing agency and currently we are "digital nomads". Since we work with our clients online, we are able to live and stay whereever we went. To flee the German winter, we decided to stay some time in the Canary Islands and currently we live in Santa Cruz.

Obviously I love flying (no penny to the bus/train business!), what could be better than having your own airplane and to go wherever you want whenever you want. That's my plan for the near future.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to see new things, meet new people and just have constant movement in my life as long as I am young and flexible. I think it is boring to do the same thing every day, the daily routine is nothing that I can handle for longer times. I want to do all these things that people regret they have not done when they are older and I would like to check off the list of things you should do before you die now and not later.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the international spirit and I like to meet people who are similar minded.

When I studied in Atlanta I used to host Coachsurfers too.

Interests

Traveling, learning foreign languages, surfing (actually surfing in the waves), reading, sports, going out

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly like House and Hip Hop, in Atlanta I started to get really into Dirty South Hip Hop (2 Chainz, Young Jeezy). I definitely like to listen to House in the night clubs, unfortunately that is not as popular in the US as it is in Europe but it seems like the US is getting there. My most favourite DJ is DJ Smash, a Russian DJ, unfortunately fairly unknown outside Eastern Europe.
I think Inception was a mind bending thriller and I love these kinds of movies that make you think. Christoper Nolan is definitely a master of these kinds of films. Also I like movies by Martin Scorsese since he is doing the same kind of movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did some surfing while I was living in Australia. It is just amazing and a lot of fun even when you are a beginner trying to catch 50cm high waves. Also it was a lot of fun watching the professional surfers doing all their stunts further out in the big waves.

Teach, Learn, Share

As already mentioned I love languages and I am able to teach the ones I speak fluently. Currently, I am not learning any new languages. It's great to be able to use ones languages in the country.
