About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to travel and see as much of the world as I can while I decide on a career path.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in southern California, USA. I grew up playing hockey, and any other sport, so long as there were people to play with. I was a good student in grade school as well as at university, and will probably go back for my master's degree. I'm often described as easy going. I enjoy being active, but I certainly enjoy lazy days as well.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm currently traveling because being distanced from my family allows me to develop my own personal way of life without familial pressure, and so in doing so I will find my own way where I will create a life for myself that I will be happy with. I believe everything deserves a full attention when it is happening, and that there is little in the world that can't be accomplished by putting your shoulder to the wheel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I have my own place, I would love to host couch surfers myself, but for now I'm afraid I can only couch surf myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am currently living with a host family in Georgia while I do volunteer work teaching English as a second language to 1st through 6th grade students, and I tutor the three children (ages 10 through 14). What I like the most about being here is meeting new people and learning about their culture--especially the little cultural differences that might be trivial, like where you place your napkin while eating, or how to give a toast.

Interests

I am interested in: creative writing (I like to write fiction), religion (all religions and their similarities), traveling (of course), and learning about anything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Paradise Lost, The Great Gatsby, anything by Chuck Palahniuk, religious texts, like the Torah, the Gospel, the Qur'an, Native American beliefs/stories and so forth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing place I have been to is Istanbul, Turkey. Seeing the giant, beautiful mosques, from afar and within, was incredible. The Hagia Sophia was by far the most impressive made made thing I have ever seen.

Most amazing things done? Probably traveling abroad and in particular living in South Korea. Random other things? Skydiving solo and paragliding.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess the most obvious that I can offer teaching wise is English and about American culture. Also my traveling experiences in Korea (I lived there for 1 year), Japan, Thailand, Sweden, Turkey, Georgia, Canada, and of course around the United States. I'm not as well traveled as some people, but so far all the places I have been to have been amazing experiences. I like to learn about everything, as this helps me personally and with my writing.
