ABOUT ME

Hi, we're Alicia and Josie. We're going travelling for a year to meet people and to experience new cultures and careers. We're fun, friendly and interested in all kinds of places, people and activities. We will travel to french speaking countries (namely Maurtius) hoping to find work experience, improve our french and make friends.

We are looking to be educated on our travels, to earn money and predominantly to get some life experience and see the world. We're not demanding, but easy to get along with and are very respectful of people and their homes. We're hard working and will help out with household chores etc, and maybe make you some British food?!

We're a lively part of the couchsurfing community, being active in many groups and in contact with a number of people (mainly couchsurfers!) around the world. We haven't begun our travels yet, but when we do we hope to meet some of our friends on here, and participate even more!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Still new here so haven't met anyone personally yet, BUT we've made some lovely friends and chatted to lots of people who've told us more about the places we're visiting, and have been really helpful in planning our trip. Everyone's been lovely and helpful - so apart from a few disturbing perverts - great experience so far :P.

Interests

Hellooo, I'm JOSIE - I'm in the process of qualifying as a Scuba Diving Instructor so that I can work in this capacity abroad (specifically in Mauritius). I also love kayaking, art, archery, playing the piano and guitar.Literature is my passion and I will study English Literature at university in 2 years' time.(P.S. it's Alicia who speaks all the languages listed; I can do Latin and monosyllabic French.)What am I like? I make a lot of jokes... am a bit cynical about stuff, I like to learn about anything, have fun aand talk about current affairs/ politics/ just anything interesting really. And the best thing about me... is that I can whistle and hum, at the SAME TIME. Yeah. I know. Take a moment to be impressed.

Hi there, I am ALICIA, I'm qualified as a gymnastics coach and am interested in finding work in circuses abroad! I would also love to do volunteer work with animals in Wildlife Reserves, and to help teach children English. I like to DJ and play the Cello. Josie bought me a ukulele so I am trying (and possibly failing) to learn that. Any tips? I have a passion for languages too, and am learning three at the moment (French, German and Spanish), so look forward to making friends who can help me improve :)! But I'm also incredibly interested in learning new languages; I've always wanted to learn Russian or Arabic as they are completely new. I am really interested in linguistics and will study it at university in two years time.

I (Josie) have seen ALL of the Rom Coms EVER :P ❤ Crazy, Stupid Love is probably the best (apart from Hitch obviously). And I (Alicia) can sometimes be a bit of a geek; I like Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, all Sherlock Holmes films but I'd definitely agree with Josie on Hitch!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A wild albino water buffalo in the northern mountains of Vietnam. It was bathing in the brown river and looked really incongruous and ethereal amongst everything... it was huge and had red eyes, so kind of scary but beautiful.

Teach, Learn, Share

Between us, we can teach you how to scuba dive, perfrom gymnastic feats, improve your English and play the piano/ guitar/ cello/ ukulele. We're looking to improve our second languages, especially French so if anybody can help us out with this that would be great. Also we want to learn about other cultures and the countries we're going to... if you can do anything cool or cook something nice teach us that too!
