About Me

I have been living in Vancouver for the past few years, and love sharing cultures and languages. I spend time thinking about and experiencing sustainability and urban life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first experienced the Couchsurfing community a couple of years ago during a trip to Europe, when I was travelling with my sister. We Couchsurfed twice with people in France and we also attended Couchsurfing picnics to meet locals and other travellers in another city. Each interaction really inspired me, and showed that warmth and hospitality transcends background and language.

In Vancouver, the CS community is super-active and super-welcoming, and made me feel at home when I first moved here.

Interests

I love exploring, in many senses of the word. This includes cities, past-times, and friendships. I like biking, walking, and transiting around cities to get to know different areas. I currently sing in a choir, and am learning the ukulele. I like exploring in the kitchen, and my most recent venture is home-made ginger beer. Finally, I really enjoy chatting and joking with others and building friendships :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a podcast person and really enjoy learning from podcasts and radio. From CBC news features, to the comedies, to 99 Percent Invisible (interesting design stories), to Stuff Mom Never Told You.

I love to read, and spend time reading in transit. Dystopic books like the following have been some of my favourites:
- Cloud Atlas
- Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake trilogy

Teach, Learn, Share

Languages - I love learning and sharing languages, and would be more than happy to help out with English, whether it's just having a conversation or helping in another way. On the flipside, I am interested in learning Farsi. I have some basic knowledge, but would love the opportunity to practice in conversation.
