About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm pretty laid back, and I love spending time with friends, especially when there's good conversation and food, but I also value my time by myself. I speak English, a little French, and I'm currently trying to learn some Dutch. I'm an outdoorsy Canadian girl, so I love hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming, biking - basically any activity that gets me moving while I enjoy the sunshine.

Interests

One of the things that is most important to me is having the time to make art, particularly theatre/film, although I also love to paint and dance. I pursue beauty above all else: beautiful people, ideas, food, moments, places...

I just finished my Hon. B.A. at the University of Toronto in playwriting and literary theory, though I've also studied, and have a passion for Russian literature in translation.

I do have severe allergies to peanuts and soy, so this is something I need to be very careful about when I'm travelling. However, I love to cook, and I'm pretty good at it, so if all else fails, I can whip us something up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" has haunted me more than any other piece of writing. Recently on a trip via chartered bus back from New York, I was sitting beside a wonderful older gentleman named John and we started talking about literature. He was pleading the case for simplicity in poetry and I had a feeling he might be a fan of Robert Frost. When I mentioned this great American poet, John proceeded to softly recite from memory the words of the very poem that I love so much, on the gently rumbling bus, in dim bluish bus light.
