About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See Europe before the real world gives us a good swift kick in the butt.

ABOUT ME

I am planning on traveling in Europe, with my boyfriend, Matt, before I return to school to continue my education and pursue a degree as a Veterinarian. I am a HUGE fan of all animals, especially dogs. I have been called a crazy dog lady, and I am okay with that.

I like to think I have a good sense of humor, and enjoy a good laugh and a good time.

I like going out at nights once I get there, but by nature, I am an early riser and can appreciate a good sleep.

I try to be healthy-ish, but not close to the point where I deprive myself of things I love. (Especially while traveling)

PHILOSOPHY

As a "20-something" I am still invincible as far as I am concerned and I hope to see as much of the world while I still can. There's way more to see than can ever possibly be seen and I hope that by traveling I can meet some fabulous people, see some incredible sights, and learn some valuable things I will be able to use for many decades to come.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will very much be looking forward to surfing a few couches in Europe with my boyfriend while we are there. I am convinced that the best way to know a city or country is by knowing the people, which can be very hard if you only flock to tourist destinations and the locals view you as a "tourist". I think couch surfing is a great way to authentically know an area.

I hope that down the road, I can make it to locales I wouldn't normally think of (Southeast Asia, Indonesia) through the couch surfing network.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to the couch surfing network online, however I have spent time living with families in Argentina (for one month) and Madrid (for 3 months) through my schooling. I loved both families and experiences and having traveled conventionally, I know which one I prefer! (Hint: couch surfing) I have family members who have surfed and hosted and they were the ones who introduced me to the website.

I also had a student from Argentina stay with me for a month while I was in high school. It was a fabulous experience and I will try to do it again once I am able to.

Interests

I enjoy all the fun things in life, reading, movies, and other various forms of entertainment.

I have spent 17 of my 22 years dancing, and while I am struggling to find an outlet now that I am no longer in school, it is still a passion of mine.

I like taking pictures, although I am not very good at it, and my camera is currently on the fritz :(

I am developing and ever exploring my tastes in wine and beer. I know that I am a fan of pinot grigio, IPAs, and stouts, however I am still discovering and exploring the wide-world of alcohol. I am also a huge fan of food and trying new things (although I have a strange aversion to mushy foods). My favorite meal is breakfast, I could eat it at any time of the day, and I love most anything to do with cheese or sweets. And bacon. I. Love. Bacon.

I love SCUBA diving and anything to do with the oceans/beaches.

I enjoy the outdoors and any excuse to be in them, including hiking, camping, kayaking etc.

I am a bit of a self proclaimed science-nerd, and with the broad degree of "Biology" I was able to accrue a love and appreciation of Ecology, Microbiology, Botany, Physiology, and anything to do with animals (see above interests in Veterinary School).

I also spent time learning the french horn in high school and still have a soft spot for the instrument. I tried learning a little bit of classical guitar, but nothing to write home about, however I now have a much greater appreciation for those with a prowess for the instrument.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, Song of Fire and Ice series, Dan Brown, Pat Conroy etc.

Music: wide and varied. Reggae, Ska, alternative rock, rap/hip-hop, blues, classic rock, funk, (some) pop, reggaeton, indie, bluegrass, etc. I am open to almost anything

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't have anything earth shattering, but the thing that immediately pops into my mind is riding horses with two of my friends in Naxos, Greece in December during a cold snap a few years ago. We were the only three on the trip, because it was the off-season and the guides took us to a small island separated by a channel which turned out deep enough for our horses to have to swim across with us on our backs.

Also, I saw a Quetzal take flight from a branch in Monteverde, Costa Rica. An absolutely magnificent bird.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you can't stay somewhere long, travel there in the off-season. Locals will be more likely to be happy to see you and you will get a much more authentic experience. Best way to get a feel for the area.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Costa Rica, Greece, Italy, Spain
