About Me

I built this for you: www.backpackchicago.com

I grew up in a tiny town in Michigan, spent 20 years there before moving to Nashville, TN. Chicago has been home since 2012!

I'm a pretty simple person who seeks adventure and loves to learn through new experiences. I enjoy traveling alone - and with others - but I've done a decent amount of solo traveling and always learn a lot from those experiences. I value genuine, positive people and don't leave much room for the opposite in my life.

I play drums and some other instruments, I'm a pretty avid bicyclists and love exploring new parts of Chicago on my bike. I enjoy writing, documentary films, cooking, and grilling.

I post stuff here: http://badaja.tumblr.com

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To give people the experiences I seek when I travel. To pay it forward, and remind myself that there are a lot of really good, interesting people in this world.

My experiences on Couchsurfing have been incredible. I've met some really great people and formed some lasting friendships through this community.

Interests

Music, biking, snowboarding, traveling, writing, technology, photography, meeting new people and hearing their stories. Documentary films, sushi, beer, late nights outside on a nice summer day.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
I listen to everything under the sun. I'm not going to name artist's names because I hate how that "defines" you. I literally have everything from bluegrass to electronic music in my library. I always love to get introduced to new artists and bands though.

MOVIES
I watch a lot of documentaries. My guilty pleasures are Adam Sandler and Chris Farley films... I love those guys.

BOOKS
I don't read a ton, but I enjoy biographies and travel stories. Some favorites include Heavier Than Heaven, Scar Tissue, The Chris Farley Show.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flew to Okinawa Japan and surprised my family for Christmas.

Hung my feet off the Cliffs of Moher tossing rocks off like a 10 year old boy.

Spent a weekend in Tokyo by myself.

Spent the Fourth of July in Washington DC.

Watched the Turnagain Arm Tide move in in Alaska (one of the largest tide tables in the world).

Stayed on the small island of Vieques with 3 other CouchSurfers.
