About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel, explorer, experience and have fun.

ABOUT ME

I am easy going, open minded, respectful and responsible. I don't judge. I'm a big geek/nerd. Band nerd, I played clarinet for 13 years, should start playing again. I love Disney, almost everything Disney. Space is another huge fascination of mine. NASA is awesome and I try to promote them if I can. I love to eat and try new foods. What other way to experience new food than...
I love to travel, explore and experience new things, but save wherever I can. I usually travel with all I need, a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow, clothes and accessories. I just look for a floor to sleep on.
At home, I love to experience the outdoors; camping, backpacking or driving the open road. One of my goal is to visit all 58 US National Parks.
I was born in Minnesota, where my mother's side of the family immigrated to; Grew up in central Florida, hence the Disney and Space/NASA interests; Moved back to Minnesota for college, living with my aunt and uncle, and grandpa a few miles down the road; Got at job in California working at an aerospace firm. I've crossed the continent a few times.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't judge, we are who we are. If we can get over that fact then we can get along.
I am respectful of others and will not say or do anything to cross the line.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

First time using CouchSurfing. I'd like to open my apartment to surfers when I get a chance to organize and clean my apartment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No real CS experience. The near experience was sharing a hotel room with a fellow CS member in Virgina during a NASA Social event. We connected via the Facebook page for the event and realized we have the same alma mater and studied the same degree.

I hope to fill this with a lot more experiences.

Interests

I pretty much love everything Disney! I lived in Orlando, FL and used to go to Disney World all the time. We knew Cast Members who could bring us in anytime of the year. I moved to San Diego, CA and just recent purchased an Annual Pass for Disneyland. I've been there 21 times in 4 month and love it!

In my free time, I don my drysuit, strap a tank of compressed air and go scuba diving off the shores of San Diego. I think of it as my personal "outer space" with creatures lurking in the dark. I great to be out there and feel weightlessness. Best of all, no one can find you (well unless you need to be rescued in an emergency). Currently at 85 dives, working to hit number 100 by the end of 2012.

I started taking pictures when I was a little boy. My uncle persuaded my dad to give me his old film Canon AE-1 camera. I fell in love with photography ever since. I moved up to digital because it was cheaper and much easier. I went to back to the Canon AE-1 for a photography class I took in college, the best class I ever took during the summer. Over my lifetime, I've owned 3 film cameras, 6/7 point and shoots, 2 DSLR and 4 lenses.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most amazing, week long canoeing trip to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota. The most pristine waters you can find in the United States. The open waters with very little interactions. Connected with 7 random people I had never met before.
Most inspiring, experiences with space flight projects and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Working on a student project to send a payload into space. Witnessing rocket launches and landing events. We landed a robot on the surface of Mars. Anything is possible!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can try to teach people about my interests, hobby and experience. I like to share my knowledge and at the same time learn from yours. If you want to know something about me or what I know, just ask.
