About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoying life in Portland with my lovely friends!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Montana and currently study Linguistics at PSU. I just got back from a year of study abroad in Taiwan and China. I feel really fortunate that I was able to travel so much this past year and that I have met many people that have become important parts of my life:)

PHILOSOPHY

Smile more, it makes everyone feel better.

It's important to invest more energy into your relationships with the people you love. Take care of them :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only surfed a couch once. A friend who participates in the Couch Surfing community in Portland introduced me to the idea when we travelled together to Seattle. Despite my, at that time, non-member status, our host received me very warmly. I am very thankful for the kindness he showed me and the welcoming environment he created for us. A model Couch Surfer, he was able to share many of his experiences with us (we were his 110th and 111th guests!)

My other participation has been hanging out with Couch Surfers in Portland who I also met through my friend. A really great group of people that just radiate positivity and camaraderie. Very excited to meet more people like this and better get to know the places I am visiting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The visit I spoke of in the previous paragraph was in Seattle. Our host allowed us to stay for several days in a row, which was very generous. Upon arriving, he took us on a neighborhood tour. In the self-proclaimed "Center of the Universe" in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood, it is quite a treat to get the insider's scoop! By far the best part was being invited by our host to go on a day trip hike up a Washington mountain with him and an old Couch Surfing buddy. The friendships that Couch Surfing can create, and the readiness with which our host was willing to include us in the community was awesome.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I won a drawing at a Godfather's Pizza in Billings, Montana when I was in the second grade. It was for an obscene number of pizzas and those cookie pizza things. I got to have a big pizza party for my whole class! :D

Teach, Learn, Share

Maybe we can teach each other yoga. I can teach you German or maybe you can teach me more Chinese. I you or someone in your family speaks a "small" language, I would love to hear all about it, if you don't mind sharing. How do you cook your favorite food?

Or we can just have a conversation and see what opportunities for sharing open up from there :)
