About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To survive in the Big Apple!

ABOUT ME

I'm from Edinburgh (mostly), I've always been a bit of a nomad, my family moved around a lot when I was young and so I've kind of grown up with itchy feet. I'm an actor - or at least, am in training to be an actor professionally. I also write and draw and love music, whether I'm listening to it, discussing it, or attempting to play it. I'm very easy-going and open-minded, have a dry sense of humour. I love finding things in common with other people, but also enjoy a bit of healthy discussion about things we don't have in common - everyone I meet has the potential to teach me something!

PHILOSOPHY

I enjoy absorbing things from other people - I'm like an intellectual parasite!! Like how I taught myself to cut my own hair from watching hairdressers. And I love picking up bits of language. I would like to think people can learn things from me too - I have lots of stories, particularly about old Edinburgh, and I LOVE ghost stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just moved to New York and am looking for short-term accommodation until I find a permanent apartment, and for some people who can show me around a bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet! Excited to get involved though. Once I have living arrangements sorted in NYC I can start hosting as well.

Interests

Music, films, literature, theatre, creative arts, acting, going to new places and meeting new people.

I'd love to learn more languages. So far I have a small amount of experience in French, German and Spanish, but I want to learn Japanese, Arabic, Swedish and Gaelic.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Valhalla Rising - Dark Crystal - The Princess Bride - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Mister Lonely - Pan's Labyrinth - Star Wars - Lord of the Rings - Hallam Foe - mostly indie stuff or films about zombies or vampires, no matter how bad they are!
Music: rock/indie/folk-rock - Laura Marling - Cat Power - Rolling Stones - Led Zepplin - Dry The River - Bombay Bicycle Club - Frightened Rabbit - Regina Spektor - No Doubt - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Books: I love books! I forced myself to get a kindle so I could take my library with me while I travel, but there's nothing I love more than the smell of a book, old, new, whatever. I have an antique copy of Homer's Iliad which is one of my prized possessions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking the Andes! And seeing Macchu Picchu at sunrise. The pyramids of Egypt.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an artist, in every sense of the word. I learnt a lot about my craft(s) through watching other people, and if ever there is anyone who wants to learn to me, I will jump at the chance to pay the universe back. Though I'm not religious, I think I do believe in some form of Karma - if someone does something good for you, it's your responsibility to do something good for someone else.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Egypt, Jordan, Peru, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
